Question

cant change date of birth

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

I put the wrong date in as my date of birth and it won't let me correct it. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi @Ste_m,

a warm welcome to the STRAVA community hub!

Have you tried to change it via the web frontend on your PC/Mac? Navigate to your profile and the should be an edit symbol next to your bitrh date (sorry the screenshot is in German):

I hope this helps and does the trick.

Cheers

Good morning, i have tried that and it still won't let me change it. Think I will have to contact strava and see if they can fix it.

Thanks again, very much appreciated.

Ok, strange. I was able to do it.

I think open a ticket support ticket (here’s how to submit one) good idea. Keep fingers crossed.

Cheers.

Did you get this solved? I am having the same issue. I have submitted two tickets and tried emailing them, but I still haven’t heard anything :( I’m sad because I can’t use my heart rate data or message people.

Good morning, I did not hear back from strava either. I just kept trying to change the date of birth everyday and it eventually let me change it back after a few days.

I hope this helps.

@Ste_m, even if it is not satisfactory not to know what the issue was, it is good to hear that it “resolved itself”.

@emmagracetri, not sure if I understood you correctly, but I don't see the connection between changing the date of birth, the recording of the heart rate and the possibility of writing messages. Could you please explain in more detail?

Messaging is disabled for athletes under the age of 18, https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412328250893-Your-Privacy-Control-Defaults-When-You-re-Under-18-on-Strava Also, I suppose that the HR zones might be messed up or not used at all (I’m not sure how that's limited though). There's more, like age brackets for segments leaderboards being all wrong…

Anyway - could it be that there's a limit on how often we can change the birth date? It would make sense - as a prevention against cheating. I.e. after saving, further changes get locked for a defined time period. Just guessing though.

AH! I understand. Wasn’t aware of this. Thank you for your help!!

With regard to the heart rate and limits maybe @Lola can bring some light to this?
