To record a indoor cycling session I seem to have 2 options. 1, to manually enter a recording selecting time and distance, but miss out heart rate data. 2, to record heart rate data via a smart watch, where Strava app wont let you enter the distance covered. So then miss out distance covered.
Am I missing something or Is there a way to get the best of both worlds. To record heart rate data and to add a distance associated with the session?.

Yeah this is ridiculous...I use apple workouts to record my rides and then let them upload to strava…for my indoor trainer I have a speed sensor attached and have speed data. But yet Strava doesn't seem to care! It is SUPER frustrating!! In order for me to record that milage I have to add a manual ride and just input that that data(speed and distance) and then so it doesn't look like I did 2 rides to everyone else, I hide the manual input...then my year to date distance stats stays correct! PLEASE STRAVA allow us to have speed data on our indoor trainers!!!
To answer your question directly, unfortunately there isn’t a way to do both currently.
At this time, we are limiting the release of Indoor Activity recording to activities that do not measure distance. While we hope to include distance-based activities in the future, we don't have a timeline available for when this may happen.
Compatible activities at this time include Crossfit, elliptical, stair stepper, weight training, yoga, and workout. You will see elapsed time, starting time, and your heart rate if you have a heart rate monitor attached during the recording.

I do exactly the same, which is annoying when I want to check how many sessions I've had in a week.
It is a very very simple fix that Strava don't seem to want to roll out.
Yet with such a simple update it would enable a lot more people to analyse their data with Strava, so it not just for those with mega expensive home gym equipment.
