Hi everyone! I am somewhat familiar with Strava's API both directly via HTTP and with the Python Stravalib library through my visualization app Heatflask (https://www.heatflask.com) (Client ID 12700) which I has been running since 2016. However I have another thing I am trying to do on my own. I have a lot of old activities that I imported from SportTracks dating from 2009 - 2014, very few of which have heart-rate data. I would like to retroactively update RPE (https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032535512-Perceived-Exertion) for these activities by comparing with similar more recent efforts. I can manually change that value one activity at a time on Strava website, which is really slow. Is there any way I can do it via API? I do not see RPE as a parameter for Activity update (https://developers.strava.com/docs/reference/#api-models-UpdatableActivity). In fact, the only info I have seen about RPE for Strava's API was th
On the getting started guide in the section F. Why do I need webhooks? it states: "Per our API terms, you need to implement webhooks to know when an athlete has deauthorized your API application" What about mobile only applications? We're building a mobile only app and have no intention of managing a backend server because our app does not require one to function. So are mobile apps exempt from this, or is there a special way to handle this case?
With the newly introduced per app athlete limit its clear around 15% of our athlete tokens are orphaned. Is there any way to clear these down? We're quite happy to cycle through all the valid tokens and make a "hey this one is still in use" poke to an API call 🙂Thanks

Hi everyone, I’m working on a little dashboard to do some stats on my « bicycle to work » activities (i.e. global distance, fuel not used, etc) and I was wondering if there is a way to add a parameter to the getLoggedInAthleteActivities request so it only returns activities matching a specific type. In my case it would by only cycling activities for example since I don’t use running or yoga activities to do my stats. Thanks for your replies

We have an iphone and watch os app and would like for our users to be able to connect to strava such that their workouts automatically upload from our app on their device to our server and then from our server to strava (all automatically once they have connected their strava account to their account on our server). Concept 2 does it this way for their ergData app using their online logbook. We are looking for what code or setup would be best for connecting their Strava account to their account on our server and then how their workouts would get automatically set to strava. In addition and similar to what Concept 2 does we'd like to also send a generated jpeg with the upload to strava that shows their workout interval summary information. Any guidance or help is greatly appreciated.
Is there a way to retrieve leaderboard results for all athletes in a specific segment? I'm getting {"message": "Forbidden","errors": []} even though I'm a subscribed user. Also, I'm not sure if the segment_efforts feature only shows my own efforts or if it includes data from other athletes? Is there a way to get information about other athletes who ran a specific route or segment, like their speed and date?Any help would be appreciated .
Trophies are displayed quite prominently in the Desktop and Mobile profile pages. On desktop, Trophies are shown above almost everything else, even above the weekly chart, or recent activities and photos.Personally, I join challenges but the resulting trophies have no meaning to me after the challenge is over. My profile page on the mobile app tells me I have 632 trophies so... yay?Is it just me, or is this just a waste of space on the profile tab/page? Curious to hear alternative perspectives.

To make it more fun, I would like to display some real-time information about my race (heart rate, time per km, distance traveled...) by retrieving this information from the Strava application on my Apple Watch. Hi,We import activities from multiple sources, e.g. Garmin and Strava. When we receive a webhook message from Strava that a new activity has been created, we always have to do the following:Request the activity from Strava's API or request a list of the latest activities of the athlete (these are kind of equivalent, we do the former)Compare the start time (utc timestamp) of the activity with the activity start times that we have in our database. Under the assumption that a user cannot start two activities at exactly the same time, we can determine that an activity has already been imported from another source and then ignore it, or import it when we do not have it yet.It would be very convenient for us, and perhaps/probably also for others, when Strava's webhooks would also contain this start timestamp, so we can omit step 1 and thus, for bonus points, use up less of Strava's rate limit (and server time).
Hey 🙂 We have been using Strava API since 2017 and organize hundreds of local sports and eco challenges, very often with prizes, e.g. from local authorities. Credibility of the data and fraud detection is though very important. We've experienced cases when users upload manually to Strava activities which were well prepared in widely available tools - those activities have a reliable .gpx track, data about source (all sports devices) and looks like real activities. Quite often they download .gpx tracks from other Strava users and edit them (e.g. adding timestamps in any .gpx editor or editing device source) To make our events we need to somehow spot those fraudulent activities. This file contains elevation data (<AltitudeMeters>...</AltitudeMeters>).If I try to upload this activity via api (https://www.strava.com/api/v3/uploads), the activity appears among my activities (https://www.strava.com/athlete/training), but shows an elevation of 0.Using the web interface (+ >> Upload activity >> Choose file):1) before clicking Save & View, the activity appears among my activities, without elevation2) after clicking Save & View, the elevation appears and is correct.It seems like the api call stops at step 1, and the elevation is missing. Is it possible to obtain the same result (steps 1 and 2) using apis?
Strava calculates the nearest possible location of where an activity was performed. For example, if you ride your bike in a local state park, Strava is able to retrieve that information and add it next to the time and date of your activity. Is it possible to expose this information as part of the API response for an activity?The use case I have is to get the location data and stick it to the title as part of post process automation to indicate where an activity was performed.

I would like to prevent unwanted users to auth to my application.1. Is there a way I could POST some headers/data during authorization to "https://www.strava.com/oauth/authorize" like client_id?2. The use case is that I don't want users to share auth link like: "https://www.strava.com/oauth/authorize?client_id=99999&redirect_uri=https://mysecretwebpage.org&response_type=code&scope=activity:read_all"3. Hello, GET `activity` from the API includes `segment_efforts` array containing incorrect id values. They are all missing at least the last two digits. I just started using this recently, and it seems like this is something people would have noticed already. Is it a new change? example: url of segment effort on Strava.com: https://www.strava.com/activities/{activityId}/segments/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX336 what gets returned in API response: {..., segment_efforts: [{id: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX300, ... }], ... } note the last three digits in the URL: "336", and in the API response: "300" This is for an identical segment effort, and can be repeated for every segment effort I tested Calling API for GET segment_effort with id XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX300 returns 404! --- also calling GET segment_effort API with the correct id returns a result with the incorrect id. --- DetailedSegmentEffort id says type is `long` https://developers.strava.com/docs/reference/#api-models-DetailedSegmentEffort Maybe this type do
Well, the title says it all, folks... It seems like this is gonna be a tough one to implement in Google App Scripts. There's not much out there in general for setting up these Strava webhooks, but it's even worse when trying to find ANYTHING on setting up in Google App Script. It seems to me, my best bet may be to migrate my code over to React/NodeJS/Java and go from there, given I can use ngrok and other libraries a lot more freely (and there's more information out there for the latter). Does anyone have any thoughts? Are you aware of ways to accomplish this in Google App Scripts, or do you think my best bet would be to migrate over to another, more widely used (and compatible) platform? I currently use polling to acquire my authenticated athlete's activities, but there's huge limitations to this given the data pulling limitations by Strava's API.
