Yesterday I made a really hard effort and I broke my record for 3 segments listed in the picture above which are excluded for me. On 2 segments, I didn't even take the KOM, so I don't see why my result is excluded for those 3 segments, while the results for the other segments are included. You can review the entire ride and see that everything is fine.
My HRM wasn't working because the battery ran out on my Garmin. You can see from all my previous rides that I use it, and it's not my intention to cheat or do anything suspicious, but to enjoy riding and achieve good results.
I use Strava because I love segments, leaders, personal records, KOMs, but it feels like a lottery whether efforts will be considered at all.
I hope you will consider my complaint because otherwise I wouldn't have written it here.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hey @askori23, Thanks for your post. We're going to send this over to our support team and they will be able to further assist you.
The Community Hub & Strava Support are two different platforms. The Hub is great for general questions and information while our Support team will handle questions that require the member to share personal account information. Our support team currently has a high volume of tickets but they will respond to your support inquiry as quickly as possible.
If you have a similar question please submit a support ticket and we will investigate further.
Hi there. I have set a new PR on a climbing where I visit once in a year. I use power meter and heart rate band. However, when I uploaded my ride, it turned out that strava accepted it as an excluded effort in spite of my power and HR data, which made me feel so sad. coz I pushed so much to see my result and now I cant see it on public segment leaderboard.
This excluded effort thing is bull**bleep**!! Today it excluded a couple segments from my ride. I've had a couple other segments missing from a ride prior to this as well. Says they was unlawfully obtained?? WHAT???? Nothing more frustrating than Stava saying you've cheated on your ride??!! I know they are trying to weed out the E-bike riders but this is not the way to do it. FIX this problem Strava or there will be a mutiny. Leave it up to the community to Flag potential cheaters.
I couldn’t agree more. Strava is now listing some of my segment efforts as “excluded” which makes no sense at all, as they are not that extraordinary and can be cross referenced with heart rate data. I enjoy trying to set my age group records and it is the only reason that I pay for the subscription. Excluding legitimate efforts is wrong, especially when anyone with even slight knowledge of athletic performance can verify the efforts. What is in the algorithm used to auto-check? Are they using the bogus power figures generated by their own estimations (which seem to overstate downhill and grossly understate uphill efforts) as an indicator for efforts that had no power meter?
Same problem. Just noticed that Strava has excluded segments on a route I ride quite often. The odd thing is the segment it excluded is slower than my PR which was not excluded. Their system really seems to be broken. Really frustrating that there is no way to query these erroneous exclusions - kind of defeats the purpose of subscribing to Strava if it doesn’t keep a record of segments
@Gbr When you open the activity in the web browser, do you see a confirmation dialog where you can choose if it was a (normal) ride or an ebike ride? If you answer with “Ride” the segments will be included again:
Hi. Thanks for the response. There’s no such option. The only ride options are “Workout, Race or Commute”. Btw, I don’t have an e-bike and never seen such an option and have been a Strava subscriber since day 1. I have better performance on the same segment which hasn’t been flagged. There are others who have significantly better performance, in “all time” and “today”, so the flagging doesn’t seem to be logical. We’re talking about a segment on a pretty flat piece of road at 35km/h. Looking further, I’ve noticed that I have 10 excluded segments…something not right here.
I’ve looked into this issue a little more. I never noticed that segments were being excluded before. Now I saw that just last week a hard ride I did had 10 segments excluded! I never knew about this. It makes me question the integrity of relative performance of Strava. I don’t have time to go look through all historical data but I suspect the platform had been doing this for awhile so my own performance data I’ve been looking at probably has low integrity. I really think you need to think had about this as Strava - move to community flagging and an appeal - community appeal even.
That is typical for Strava in the last year, whenever they implement a new feature they do it wrong. I fear you have to submit a support ticket like Scout wrote in his “solution” and list all the activities where you have found the excluded efforts.
I have had the same problem for two weeks. Whenever I log a ride with a bit of effort, all segments are automaticly excluded. When using the app on my phone, there is no way to correct it, and the information provided by Strava tells you that it is not possible to change this. They do not tell you that you can log in to Strava on your computer, and see your activity in a browser, and that only there, you can confirm that your ride is not an e-bike ride, in order to cancel the auto-exclusion. This is en extremely arrogant and ignorant way of treating hard working and paying subscribers, knowing that thousands of us are using Strava only on our phones.
I’ve looked into this issue a little more. Interesting I deleted a ride from Strava that had ten segments excluded. I then uploaded it again and it didn’t flag anything. Very strange. Problem is it’s too much effort to go an “audit” results historically and I’m not seeing any warning of excluded segments when uploading a ride unless I check each segment separately on the browser version which is tiresome.
I still can’t see any place to flag/choose e-bike - can anyone direct me? I’ve looked on the browser version too.
Nevertheless I’ll raise with Strava
@Gbr What I conclude from all the reports is that you get the confirmation dialog in the web browser only if all segment efforts are excluded and not, if only some efforts were. That’s guessing though, I didn’t encounter examples of a partly auto exclusion in my activities to confirm my suspicion.
hello, same here, I’m at the beginning of my journey so obviously improving fast and to have 3 efforts excluded after I felt like I gave all I had and at the end of a workout, is really unfair!!! I already submitted a ticket but still waiting for someone to answer :( https://strava.app.link/RyL9VgYXiWb
