Does private activities count for end of the year recap? I know there is an option to mute activities for small runs and commutes. But I’m used to putting these activities in private. Will these activities still be counted in the summary sent at the end of the year?

To the best of my knowledge they will count as they are in your profile.
You can probably check this via the goals feature. If you set a goal of any size then you should be able to see the private activities count towards your goals.
