The new generative AI summaries tell me what I did when Strava already does a good job summarizing my efforts. That’s not helpful and uses a lot of compute power for little benefit. How about - if you’re going to jump on that bandwagon - use it to give suggestions how to improve using the current ride and past efforts? Are we balancing heart rate or power zones enough? Should we do more or less intense workouts the following day? Maybe we could put in some details about our goals to help generate recommendations. More like a generative AI coach than some sports announcer giving me the play by play of a game I’m already watching.
Agreed, it would be useful to include some training related ideas. The current way is just comparing the latest activity to the last 30 days - which doesn't really add any value I’m afraid: a recovery run will always be slower than the average; a speedwork session or a race will always be faster then the average.
Instead, I would welcome notes such as:
“Solid effort on those intervals. The last two were slower than the rest of the session though. Next time try a pace 10 s / km slower to see if you can maintain the pace all the time."
“Great race! You've set a new PB on the 10k distance. Your pace was great in the first half of the run, but got quite uneven in the second half. Try a 8 x 1 km intervals session in your race pace and aim to finish each interval in the same time."
“Good recovery run. Your heart rate was well below 130 all the time, 126 bpm in average. That's an improvement compared to your recovery runs from the previous month!"
… and so on
