Question

heart rate

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

I just started and trying to get everything working. I have a Motorola and like a dummy I got a Motorola watch 40 which tracks my heart rate. But Strava doesn't accept it. I am using Google fit so shouldn't that sync my heart rate to Strava

  • Install the Google Fit app on a mobile device
  • Sign into the desired Google account
  • In the Strava app, go to Settings > Link Other Services > Google Fit
  • Follow the prompts to connect the accounts

Thanks for replying BrianC. My Strava and Google Fit accounts are linked, double checked. I think it's because Strava will send days to Google Fit but I don't think Google Fit will send it

Hey @legosparky13, I don’t think you’re a dummy! While I don’t have experience with Moto Watches, they look like a neat device to try using. If I’m not mistaken, Moto Watches do not run Google’s WearOS operating system. Just as there are Strava apps for Android and iPhone, Strava offers an app for WearOS devices through the Google Play Store. However, in the case of your Moto Watch it cannot run the Strava WearOS app as it does not run that operating system.

On the subject of heart rate, it is not possible to record your heart rate independently of your activity recording and then merge the two recordings later. To see heart rate data on your activities, the device recording the activity must contain a heart rate sensor or it must be connected to a device with a heart rate sensor, such as a Bluetooth heart rate monitor. In the case of activities recorded with your Moto Watch, if the device is capable of recording your heart rate you should see that data captured in the activity you record to Google Fit.

You are correct in your conclusion that the integration between Google Fit and Strava does not currently support importing activities from Google Fit to Strava. However, I believe there may be a 3rd party app that could help you: Health Sync. This app appears to support syncing of activities between Google Fit and Strava, as well as other services. Again, this is an app I have no experience with and it may cost money to fully use, but nonetheless wanted to show you this app so that you’re aware of your options.

I hope these tips are useful!
