The Strava Community Hub is a collaborative space where we can all come together as athletes to share what motivates us to strive towards our goals. First, let's take a step to get to know each other better and what brought you here. Here are a few icebreaker options to get you started!

  • What's your name?

  • Where are you from?

  • What's your favorite activity? What about recovery and nutrition?

Don't be shy, respond to other athlete introduction posts if you see something that catches your eye - maybe you'll make a new running or riding friend as a result!

And lastly, keep in mind that this community is here to support you whether it be understanding Strava's features and functionality or looking for motivation to train for your next big goal. Whatever it may be, this is the place to ask questions, find answers, and build new connections!

👋👋 I'm Anna from NH. I run and hike and lately those activities have been merging into trail running. Nice to be here and maybe we'll cross paths in the mountains sometime!

Howdy, I’m Joe! I like to run and explore the trails and mountains of Southern California. If you’re looking for a great crew to run the trails with, check out the Hulda Crooks Trail Runners club!!

Greetings, I'm Matt, currently living in Pittsburgh, PA.  My favorite activity is basically anything that involves movement (running, biking, rowing, soccer, weight lifting, etc.).  For recovery - I just do walking/yoga/stretching - nutrition, I'm a vegan, so nothing special in terms of recovery nutrition.

Hi Anna, nice to have you here. We hope you're making use of our new trail running Sport Type on those beautiful trails!

Hey Joe, welcome to the Community! From what I know there are endless trail systems to explore in SoCal, sounds like there's no shortage of adventures to be had.

I am, I was excited to see the new feature!

I’m Jojo, a long time Strava employee and outdoor advocate. My job is a satisfying combination of problem solving, creating and documenting process, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing new ideas. I love this stuff!  I especially love that every day I get to help our community make the most out of our product and find joy in activity.

Now the basics:

What’s your name?

  • You can call me Jojo.

Where are you from?

  • California, Bay Area.

What’s your favorite activity?

  • Active: Hiking, biking, skiing. I used to run, but then I broke my toe and can’t seem to find motivation to get back out there. Running is hard!

  • Non-sport: To name a few…painting rocks, making miniatures out of polymer clay, video games, cooking.

What about recovery and nutrition?

  • Does a post-ride beer count as recovery and nutrition? If so, count me in. But honestly, there’s nothing quite like an icy cold beer. Then of course something  covered in a delicious sauce. I LOVE SAUCE.

Hi there! I am Stan. I've been using Strava for probably around 9-10 years and have my entire 11+ year running history on Strava - every single run. My favorite sport is trail running. I do several ultramarathons per year and a few shorter races. I live in Western Washington, which is a perfect area for being a trail runner. I also do some road running and very occasionally - hiking and cycling.

Hi Stan, thanks for introducing yourself. I find it fascinating that you have over a decade of runs logged on Strava, that's impressive and also a major sign of your level of commitment to the sport! We're really happy to see you in this space, there's no doubt you have a great understanding of the ins and outs of Strava and have watched it evolve over the years. Looking forward to your contributions, ideas, and insight!

mmmm.... beer!  You could, of course, use beer in your sauce, then you'd have the best of all worlds!

🤣 I've tried. Some things are perfect just the way they are!

Hi, my name is Wes Plate. I joined Strava in 2012, in fact it was the idea of logging my runs with a GPS watch and sharing on Strava that really motivated me to start (and continue) running. My Strava page: https://www.strava.com/athletes/wplate

I am located north of Seattle WA and my primary activity is long distance running. My favorite distance is 200+ miles, this year I am running four 200s, and I'm already done with two. The next one is Bigfoot 200 in three weeks.

I also make videos of my big runs and share them on my YouTube channel.

Recovery and Nutrition? I don't have anything insightful here. Nutrition is an area I could benefit from optimizing, but I don't currently have the mental bandwidth for. 🙂

I love Strava and really hope it can improve with the features requested by users. I have been submitting feedback for years.

  • What's your name? Hi, I'm Scott 👋
  • Where are you from? Bay Area, California
  • What's your favorite activity? Road cycling, http://www.sjbikeparty.org/, Zwift, and commuting (in that order.)
  • What about recovery and nutrition? Sleep, https://www.chromaticcoffee.com/, Clif bars, and Skratch - my diet has room for improvement.

Hi, my name is Bob, I live in the south of England, surrounded by great cycling opportunities.

I'll be 60 on Sunday and looking forward to cycling into a new decade.

I ride mountain bikes and road bikes, and recently changed to a job which makes it possible to commute by bike, so happy about that.

I'm also a software developer, and have a particular interest in data processing and visualisation

I recently wrote a browser extension for the chrome browser, to address personal requirements, within the club leaderboard section. Lots of people have asked for something similar, on the forum, but seem to be struggling to get a satisfactory response. I'm keen to engage with the Strava developers to arrive at a solution, as this would be better than my extension (which needs to be re-written, again, to deal with the latest of many frequent updates of the Strava DOM)

Anyway, I hope to contribute to the community in whatever way is possible, an look forward to hearing what everybody else is doing.

Hi Scott, thanks for the intro! Nice to have you here 🚲 🎉

Hi Bob, we're thrilled to have you participating in our new Community Hub. I hope you get to enjoy the outdoors for a fun birthday ride and that the weather cooperates! 🎉

Thanks, Soren.

What's weather? 😉 😉

Hope you have a great birthday, too!

Hi STRAVA Community,

  • Where are you from? I am from Germany. I am living near a town called Karlsruhe.
  • What's your favorite activity? What about recovery and nutrition? My favorite activity is road cycling. I recover with some stretching and sleep. My favorite nutrition during road cycling are the Powerbar products.

Hey Wes! We're happy to have you here and look forward to your contributions to the community.

Good luck with the Bigfoot 200!

Welcome, Uli! We're excited to have you here! Thanks for joining in and introducing yourself!

Erik from the Netherlands (southern part) here!
Gravel, Tarmac, Forrest, wherever a bike can go, I go.
Nutrition: Dutch Stroopwafels for the sugar, and water. Great homemade drink is 1/3 fruit juice + 2/3 water + a little salt. Perfect for hydration and much cheaper than the commercial energy drinks.
Who needs recovery ??? 😉 😉
Cheers!

Hi Erik,

We are also Stroopwafel fans - they usually feature in our post-ride refreshments. (And we're not from the Netherlands)

Happy riding

Hey Erik! I imagine you have some beautiful bike routes in the Netherlands. Thanks for being here, we are so excited you've decided to join our community hub!

Same here, big fan of all kinds of waffles, stroopwafels, pastries... bread! You get the idea 😉 😉

My wife has just made a cup of tea, so it's time to crack open the stroopwafels - you're a bad influence, Erik 😉 😉
