Hello I have just bought a Apple Watch and now I see that I can’t put routes fro Strava to my watch, like Garmins turn by turn.

can I do something or do I have to by another watch ?

Hello @Buchhaverunning

Thanks for your post.  You're correct, Strava routes/maps are not supported on Apple Watch.

Do you have an iPhone? You can use routes on the Strava Mobile App, as well as the following devices:

Garmin

Suunto

COROS

I hope that's helpful.

Honestly in a choice between Strava routes integration for Apple Watch and something Apple native, I think I'd prefer the native option. Something like that is apparently dropping with iOS 18 and watchOS 11, so I'm hoping more for that to develop than I am for Strava to put routes on Apple Watch.

Indeed, why bother to take paid Strava subscription for only half of functionality?

Komoot directions while recording Strava also does not work on my Ultra. Strava seems to be pushing Komoot away.

Next I'll try Footpath... other suggestions are welcome (I don't like Apple Maps)

I have started making routes in Apple Maps (requres IOS 18 Beta), to get directions while running with my watch.
It's a sort of work-a-round.
You can start navigating, leaving your mobile at home, and do the run.

I'd love to see routes on Apple Watch, but I suspect may have some sort of exclusivity agreement with Garmin (see Syncing Strava Routes to your Garmin DeviceGarmin and Strava). If that's the case, hopefully it lifts soon 🤞

This is too bad if this is the case. I have been a Strava Premium subscriber for several years now, just for the routes functionality. If given the choice between Strava Premium and my Apple Watch, I choose my Apple Watch. It appears the Footpath app has solved this problem. I will be discontinuing my Strava Premium subscription because of this.

Yes, exactly what I thought. If it is the case, assuming people would buy a Garmin instead of an Apple Watch just to use this feature is a very dangerous strategy... What is more likely to happen; people will use another app that is fully compatible with their Apple Watch.

Premium Strava users should have access to all features on all devices.

Could you please provide a date of when this feature will be available on apple watch? In the meantime, we can simply use a different app...

I would be an instant subscriber after my free trial ends if Routes were implemented for the Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Are there any plans on getting this to work on Apple Watch?
