Hey,

Strava has always traditionally been focused on Cyclists, but more and more features are coming out for additional sports. I would like Strava to better support Multi sport, in both activities and athletes stats/data.

I would love to see is being able to unify/upload multiple activities that were related to each other e.g. a Triathlon. The user experience is always quite clunky, and its hard to view as a single effort/activity when looking at past activities.

Ideally this would be a single activity with different sections per sport and includes transition period.

This would greatly improve the experience to both the user and their followers. For example the user will be able to differentiate between a 10k run and a 10k run they did at the end of a triathlon. It gives much more context into the athletes effort and doesn't treat single sport activities the same as multi sport

It will benefit their followers as it will reduce the amount of activities displayed on the feed (e.g. if they do lots of swim/run/swim/run/swim/run training).

Look forward to hearing from you

adding a run & bike sport is very simple.

flagging an activity when the user can't do the right thing to correct the problem : change the sport from running to run & bike, is not an answer for me.

and yes, it's a problem for segment too, for example : https://www.strava.com/activities/7755019486/overview

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.  Athletes who upload multi-sport activities are expected to abide by our segment leaderboard guidelines, which require everyone to categorize their uploaded data as the correct activity type.

For a multi-sport activity such as run/ride, we provide a split tool so Athletes can split their activity and then categorize the activity types correctly.

a bike & run is : 2 people and only one bike. during 30s or 1', one athlete is on the bike, the other is running and they change and they change during more than 42kms for an activity in example, so it's a no-sense to split such activity. what has sense is to change sport for bike & run so that such activities doesn't count anymore for running pr, running sgements.

Agree this feature needs added - its so annoying when it posts all the activites as single enteries. Garmin has it nailed. Why not strava?! There is even a Change petiton from the SwimRun community on it with over 600 signatures https://www.change.org/p/let-us-unite-swimrun-activities-on-strava?utm_content=cl_sharecopy_34279664...

is this request just #tagging in the subject or comments and making the #tag a hyperlink to then filter to those activities later on as like Twitter / Facebook and other social media

It could be a tag, but it should also organize all tagged activities to view at once, see cumulative stats, and put them all on the map together. I would also like it to show up as a clump on your feed, like how when you do an activity with a friend both of your activities show up on the feed together.

You are asking for something very specific. List of activities, heatmap and a summary. I know I can do it using the Strava API for a single athlete and I have done the different parts, the other question is how far back in time do you go, I have over 5000 activities and more than ten years, it just gets messier when you then think about applying it to millions of users. I'm not sure about this, on the web browser version the training log might allow you to search and filter your activities

Just confirming, I just checked https://www.strava.com/athlete/training it allows me to search any of my activities by searching for a key word, words will give results for each word.

A very simple solution to the multisport/triathlon issue that would like to see is a function to group multiple activities. This should be very easy to implement as a simple tree structure. Example: I upload a triathlon as 5 separate activities (swim, t1, bike, t2, run) - the "child nodes" - and then there is a function to group them under a single "parent node". Ideally then, there is a parent page that shows aggregate stats (e.g. total time elapsed, total distance covered, total Calories) plus links to the child pages; and the child pages include a link to the parent page, respectively.

Thanks  @Giovanjane  This indeed is very similar expectation to myself - albeit the grouping can be automatic if the activity was uploaded/recorded as such.

What would you expect to show in your feed? All 3/4 actives or just one. Personally, I think that only the parent node should show in the activity feed.

@dsm1891, yep agree, if the activity was uploaded/recorded as such the grouping can of course be automatic.

But I should add that the grouping feature has actually much broader applicability than just multi-sport activities; it could also group together e.g. stages of multi-stage races, or races together with their pre-race warm-up or transfer and post-race cool-down sessions.

What should be shown in the feed? I’ve no strong opinion on that, but the parent seems a reasonable choice; or let the user choose.

The lack of any type of multisport capability is the absolutely my number on issue with Strava. I love the suggestion from @Giovanjane . This is exactly the type of function I can would love to see, the ability to group a number of activities together and have one parent activity page to show aggregate data.

But, it would be amazing to not need to stop and start new activities while actually performing the activity. An option during the activity to "Start new activity type" without fulling ending and starting a new activity would be amazing.

I think this could just be something simple that allows the user to select the last N activities and declare them to be multiple parts of a larger thing (triathlon or multi-day hike, for example). It would sure clean up the feeds of the athlete's followers. Example: I'm friends with several triathletes and I get 5 activities (swim, t1, bike, t2, run), displayed in random order, whenever they do a race. Likewise for brick workouts. I just want something that would allow them to scroll through their own feed, select all the activities and group them together.

Suppose I ride 10 KM followed by 5 KM Run and again 10 KM ride, I have to finish ride then start new run and then finish it to record last ride. Please make the app suitable so as to change from one activity to other without finishing an activity. So I ride 10 km, change activity to run and after 5 km change activity to ride again and finish the activity at the end.

I do a lot of triathlon stuff and I can’t record it well as it separates the swim, bike and run and transition into separate work outs.
