Hello, I'd like to propose a simple idea: add your country's flag next to your name, a bit like on a Zwift account.

As Strava is an international app used all over the world, it could be interesting to quickly see form which countries are people from just by seeing their flag after their name. Another use case would be to allow to quicklysee the different nationalities in the TOP 10 of segments for example.

That’s a cool idea 👍

Personally I do not like this feature because it could he divisive and brings more identity politics into sport.

In all the sports events, the athletes have the flag of their country next to their name. Just have a look at the Olympics, every world championships of every sports or even the app Zwift in the cycling world.

Sport is not linked to politics and politics is not linked to a country flag. If you prefer this feature could be optional, but I still think it’s a good idea

You can already do this yourself when editing your profile.

My idea is to make Strava add automatically your nationality and your country flag in your profile like this:

This way, you could see the nationality of the other athletes in the leaderboards for example. In all the sports events, the athletes have the flag of their country next to their name. It’s the case in the Olympics, every world championships of every sports or even the app Zwift in the cycling world.

@ryboy Ah, I think folks should have the choice of whether they'd like this.  Also for privacy reasons.

I would not vote for this initiative. Flags do not represent sports essence, it is essentially politics, and that would convert Strava in nationalism debates. Keep it like this.

Strava already started to display the nationality of Olympics athletes, but it would be great if they could allow all the athletes to do so:

If you don’t want to show your nationality for personal reasons you will be free to do so, like in Zwift for example where it’s not mandatory.

You can do it when editing your profile on the mobile app.

I wouldn’t like to have this automatically on my profile, I‘ve given as much info as I want and not an ounce more. As one user said, this is a private matter. The comparison with Zwift makes no sense, because there you can see the other people perform live with you, here you just see some profiles with activities.

Don't like the idea at all

I disagree with this idea. If a user wants to have their country’s flag within their username, they can simply add it via an emoji. If this idea does get approved, hopefully there will be an option to disable it, since I would certainly not want this included in my username or profile.

I can't wait for the Chinese and Taiwanese to have their flags shown up ...
