It's 2022 and most apps have Dark Mode nowadays. It might be a bit weird to use Strava when not working out... But looking at the segments the night before to plan out the next run is a thing. Please make us literally lose less sleep when doing this, or when recording an activity in the evening.

This has consistently been the top request on reddit.com/r/strava

Remember when the moderator said they’d check in from time to time on this thread… well over a year ago… it’s like when parents gaslight their children with the old “maybe later” trick so they stop asking. In this case, we are asking for Strava to acknowledge a UX update request that would substantially improve customer satisfaction in a measurable and functional way. Glad we got that dog walking update to hawk another product. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink.

So, Strava product team, with ONE THOUSAND likes (as of 19th March 2024), making it the most popular idea after the addition of Ukrainian as a language by some margin, can we at least get an update on this highly requested feature?
Is there something that you could share? Have you done testing and found that test users don’t want it / don’t like it? What is the reason for not doing it? Cost? Risk? Just not a sexy enough update (I suspect it’s this one)? Other? Any information would honestly be very gratefully received.

What would need to happen for this to move to ‘Under Consideration’?

I received a software update to the Android app this week. Still no dark mode. "PATHETIC" is the adjective that I now most strongly associate with the Strava software team.

Michael Martin can clearly employ a lot less people in the Strava software development department if they can't even deliver dark mode.

2024 now... any updates?

this is much needed... I think Strava is the only app on out of the 200+ on my phone without dark mode and it is quite jarring

This Idea was posted in 2022 - it's now 2024 and strava is still willfully neglecting accessibility.

Obviously STRAVA is not taking care about what their (paying) users are begging for. They are not even taking care about a very very important security feature: 2FA (https://communityhub.strava.com/t5/ideas/add-2fa-support-for-logins/idi-p/7873)

Furthermore since two years (!!) now we still have no dark mode. But we have so important things like new/changed fonts, statistics on top of my feed that I can't even disable (or it is not clear how), moving segments to maps without the posibility to search for segments anymore... Yay!! 🍾

Anyways, I was looking for what alternatives are available out there. I stumbled  upon this article: https://www.bikeradar.com/advice/buyers-guides/best-cycling-apps

Can someone let me know where the dark mode screenshots of the STRAVA app are coming from?

I think all their effort now is being spent onboarding influencers for sponsored challenges. It’s funny because if you look at the influencer profiles they never used Strava before the company set them up with a challenge to promote them and give them more followers etc.

Chasing TikTok stars who didn’t know what Strava was before being pitched by the company to join to get artificial growth is more important than building core features for paying premium members at this point. I’m assuming since Strava folllowers can’t be monetized that these people will leave the platform shortly after their short challenge stint too..

Had hoped the new CEO would help make changes we want but instead it seems they’re trying to go harder into making Strava more social media for the masses.

It's 2024 and most apps offer a dark mode setting for users to use at night.  This is an enhancement that has been requested by numerous athletes for years now, yet Strava ignores it and rolls out features nobody asked for.

Glad I found this thread so I could cancel my free trial before it charged me for a yearly subscription. I’m an iOS developer and added dark mode support to my company’s apps years ago as soon as it was available to developers. Our main app has roughly as many screens as Strava, and it took me less than a week to add it. It’s incredibly easy to do on iOS, so there’s zero valid excuses as to why this hasn’t been done yet for Strava.

I guess it is very hard to make dark mode for the whole app (sarcasm sign). Please add at least one screen with the dark mode: training screen, where current stats are shown during training. I'm riding bicycle usually in the evening, when it is already dark, and even with minimal brightness it is still very bright. It is literally completely white except few of numbers.

@Timco is there an update on this. Paid subscriber and again Dark mode is essential in this day and age. Accessibility should be a number one priority. Where is this in Strava’s road map now? Please tell me it is soon. The headache inducing white screens are beyond their sell by date.

No.  No update from strava.  We all keep getting ignored.  I was a paid subscriber for 10 years, and have been asking for this for 5 years.  So I didn't renew my subscription this year for the first time in many years.

It boggles the mind just how unresponsive and uncaring Strava can be. They are losing paying customers over this. How can they not care? I have stopped recommending Strava to my friends, so sad.

The whitescreen plague that is eating at Strava.

Given that 90% of Strava revenue is subscriber fees, you'd think there'd be a positive engagement from Strava for dark mode, the most-requested feature. And we all hoped Michael Martin would bring some customer focus to Strava.

But alas! No change, and there remains still the deathly white silence.
