Here's an idea that might lead people to share their recent rides; thus, leading to more people joining Strava.

The idea: a side-view profile of the route you road. This would look like the hill profiles used in the TV coverage on professional bike races, which shows the major climbs on the route, which has a rating at the top of each hill (HC, 1, 2, 3, etc). Aside from a cool perspective on your ride, I suspect people would share these images with others. ("Check out the tough route I rode today.")

Hello @RJMcGovs

Thanks for posting this!  We do actually show an elevation chart under the map on the ride activity page.  For example:

Can you provide more details about what you are envisioning and how it would differ from the existing view?  Thanks very much.

Jane,

Thanks for your message. I'm an avid Strava user and a fan of the company. In my real life, when I'm not cycling, I run a company that delivers online solutions to major companies. In your case, I'm thinking you could create something that would spread virally. Here's a diagram from letour.fr which shows the elevation of a TDF stage. In the Strava case I think it should be equally decorative, perhaps with interesting annotations about the hills or the terrain. There would be a share button that would enable me to send it to others. Many cyclists watch the grand tours on TV and we're used to seeing the side view hill profiles.
