As an avid downhill mountain biker/snowboarder, it would be cool if Strava worked the way Slopes (getslopes.com) does, where chairlift rides don’t count towards a total activity distance.
Add a downhill only button. I want this for lift served MTB. All lifts count to my total D+ for road biking and there’s nothing I can do but assign the ride to some random sport but then I don’t get my DH segments.
I’m assuming this is almost as simple as changing the alpine ski metrics to downhill mountain bike and a logo change. It should be the same stats; verticle, runs, distance.
Another day in the bike park, another bump. 8k of lift vert added to my yearly stats making them even more useless. This can't be that hard fix. I guess we should all shut up and be thankful we got dark mode after paying and begging for how many years?
totally agree. It makes my exertion stats go bonkers and my calories burned go through the roof. They should really change it. It's been years now... way overdue. quite disappointed in Strava...
Since the Community Hub launched 2 years ago we’ve seen almost 2,000 ideas submitted to our Community Hub! Each and every one of these ideas have been read and reviewed by our team. We pay close attention to what is being voted on and the discussions that are being had. That being said, we have learned a lot as our community has grown and we’ve made some updates to our Idea Statuses.
The “under consideration” status has been removed and this idea will be moved to a status of “open to voting”. We’re making this change to ensure that all ideas have a status that is clearly defined and easy to understand. Please note this change doesn’t mean that this idea has been deprioritized.
What do the Idea Statuses mean?
Ideas can have one of the following statuses assigned to them:

I think the best way to get this added as a feature would be if we all just used alpine ski to track all our DH rides. All the excess complaint emails from alpine skiers will suddenly become harder to deal with than just adding the feature we are requesting.
The Alpine Ski activity doesn’t work either. I’ve been using Slopes for years. From what I’ve read, none of the downhill activities in Strava work as the uphill lift distance/elevation become part of the stats that Strava records and for whatever reason cannot be removed.
Please Strava gurus add this feature! I’m both a skier and mountain biker and tired of always pausing and resuming when I get on a lift. I use an Apple Watch.
