The Strava smartphone app could connect directly to power meters and cadence sensors, similar to HR monitors which are already working well.

Not everyone wants to/has the ability to record this kind of data through a dedicated cycling computer ("head unit").

Strava has already had tentative plans for this for years. From https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049550432-Pairing-Sensors-with-the-Strava-app :

Can I pair power or cadence meters?

Our plan is to first roll out heart rate monitors with BLE pairing to ensure it’s working as intended before we expand to power/cadence meters or other sensors. We don’t have a hard timeline but if our rollout of BLE pairing works as planned, you can expect power/cadence meter support to be recording devices that we would look at to support in the future.

Thanks for submitting your idea to enable power meters and cadence sensor connections through the mobile app. It has been reviewed by our moderation team and is now open to voting.

This would probably work well for Bluetooth devices.  I think my pedals and SRAM shifter use Bluetooth because I can connect to them with my phone. I don't think my cadence sensor does.  I'm pretty sure the cadence sensor uses ANT

Most power meters use Bluetooth, and power meters also include cadence along with the power data. So just Bluetooth support would be fine.

Thanks.  I didn't know that.  I added my power meters after I already had the cadence sensor, so maybe I can now remove my old cadence sensor.  I'll give it a try.

Yes, please add this feature. Same as you do with HR monitors, just add power meters via Bluetooth.

Bluetooth power meter for bikers is pretty important and seems like a no brainer/great addition to strava app.

It might affect the bike computer market, but it would be nice to have as an option.

Support for rear bike radars (such as garmin Varia) would be fantastic, as well. There’s a few cycling computer apps that do this currently, along with HR, power etc. but none work perfectly and/ or have crap UI. strava as the one stop shop would be a dream come true 👌

Yes please. power management is such a big part of dedicated training that without it you force us to use other software during our rides, pushing Strava to be limited to historical data tracking for endurance training.

Yes. You should have already done this. Not everyone who has a power meter has a bike computer including me. This is something you guys already should have. There's to many fitness apps on the market trying to copy what you guys are doing you need to stay innovative and remain the leader of the pack. This would be a very valuable add on to your program. Hurry up before you get beat to it.

Since Power is gaining attraction in cycling world, this is prolly on of the major update to do.

I am actually looking for a alternative to the garmin gps which is quite expensive since my phone do the same and I already have a garmin watch. The only thing I need is an app which displays power and cadence (and maybe elevation throug the course but it is another point).

By adding cad and pwr to the app, you could answer to this kind of need so it seems interesting to do 🙂

I second this request!

I chose Wahoo BT-sensors (HR, cadence, speed) since I had to if I wanted to record all data of my rides through one app at a reasonable price – Wahoo Fitness in this case.

It came clear that the build quality of the Wahoo HRS (Tickr) is really poor since the battery lid broke just after 18 months regular use. Since I refuse to replace a poorly built product 1:1 – honestly, who would?! – I would have to merge data from different apps if I used another manufacturer's HRS with better build quality (Polar H9 for example, which doesn't support the Wahoo Fitness).

In terms of sustainability it would be great if one could mix and match any manufacturer's BT-sensor within the Strava app 😃

This should be merged with the iPhone specific request which is much higher on the list:  https://communityhub.strava.com/t5/ideas/apple-watch-add-stats-power-cadence-vertical-oscillation-gr...

Ok, I'm using a Xoss G+, where do I view the imported data?

Supported.

This will probably never come.

As strava ingests a lot of data from garmin/wahoo connections(and remember, data=money), they probably have a deal with them never developing those connections themselves removing the need for a garmin head unit.

I would consider a paid subscription if power and cadence meter integration were available; otherwise, I see little value in it.
