Walking, and hiking are the same activity.  A stroll is a slow walk, and trekking is walking/hiking over several days.  A differentiation between walking (<2hrs) and hiking (>2hrs) has loosely been defined by the travel industry, but they are still the same thing.  The issue.  Selecting (or auto selecting) which is being done and separating them out in activities means that the summaries are messy.  I think it would be better that the activities are summarized as the same, OR at least an option to have a total, and the app calculate based on distance, time, and effort which SUB category it falls into as a SUB-label.

Hey @Jonners59 ,

We appreciate your activity in the Community. It’s not entirely clear from your post what you’re suggesting here. Do you mind elaborating and including more details on the topic?
More specifically, could you clarify what you mean by "summaries are messy"?

We kindly ask that you review our

See what I can do.  The suggestion is not too dissimilar to the very popular request about synchronising devices and appearing as a duplicate activity, rather than the extra data being integrated into the Strava activity as one.

In this case we have the same type of activity, separated only by subjectivity I e. Walking v hiking, which are actually the same thing, being recorded as two separate types of activity.  So if you are a walker like me who enjoys walking, especially in the mountains, 25km to 35km a day, most days at 6km/HR and loads of steep 500m to 1000m ascents and descents, having all the activities recorded as the same thing is important when looking at the monthly goals and summaries.  I also end up, sometimes doing shorter walks with friends and these too end up in different activities.  My watch classifies all walking as walking, Strava I have to change for every activity, manually, and that is not as simple as it may seem after a walk.  So I have two activity types in the Strava activity summary/achievement for the same type of activity.  This also means that if, for motivation you and your peers compare progress, it is far more difficult.

It would be better to just have the one, walking.  Sure they could be subdivided based on recorded results and preset criteria, such as walking is at below 4.8km/hr, less than 2 hrs.  Hiking is > but not dailey, and trekking is a daily walk of > 2hrs., but the summary should include all as one.

Hope that is clearer.
