Hi,

It would be great to have free diving and scuba diving sports into Strava, in a similar manner to what Garmin Connect allows.

At the moment, I am using a Garmin Descent 1 and activated the synchronization between Garmin Connect and Strava, but every time I go Scuba Diving or Free-diving, Strava recognizes it as Swimming. Which is normal because it does not support underwater sports.

In summary, it would be great to have the following features in Strava:

1. Free-diving as a sport in Strava

2. Scuba Diving as a sport in Strava.

 3. Allow the interface to get the data for Free-diving or scuba-diving sessions from Garmin Connect, recognizing the session features (depth, time underwater, etc.)

Thanks!

Fran

Please add free diving and scuba diving to Strava! Currently, I'm using a Garmin Descent 1 and have synced it with Garmin Connect and Strava. However, whenever I go scuba diving or free-diving, Strava records it as swimming, which is understandable since it doesn't support underwater sports. It would be great to see these activities accurately reflected in Strava. By the way, if you're looking for something fun to do on land, check out Traffic Rider Mod APK for an exciting gaming experience!

Yes this would be phenomenal! I am no longer able to run, so have picked up diving.

Hello and thank you to everyone who has taken the time to add your votes and comments to this request.

We want to let you know that we do not intend to add more activity/sport types to Strava in the foreseeable future, and this feature suggestion will be moved to a status of not currently planned.

We appreciate and understand this is not the answer you were hoping for. We strive to be as transparent as possible and provide updates to our Community when they become available.

Please remember that we receive a large number of idea submissions, and even some  popular ideas may not make it to the implementation stage. The number of votes an idea gets is one factor among several that’s considered when our product team develops the roadmap.

For more information, review our Guide to Ideas.

Additionally, a status of not currently planned does not mean this feature suggestion goes away. It will remain open to votes and comments, and may be revisited at some point in the future.

Lastly, we sincerely hope you will continue recording and uploading your activities to Strava. Here is a list of the Sport types that we currently support. It’s always an option to set your activity to sport type “workout” and indicate more specifics in the activity name.

Thanks again for your contributions.

Hi Jane,

Thank you for the update, indeed not the feedback we hoped for :-(.

The option you mention ("set your activity to sport type “workout” and indicate more specifics in the activity name") would be a nice medium solution to display (free)diving activities in Strava, but at the moment my Strava does not recognize my (free)diving activity anymore (i am using a Garmin Descent MK2 and activated the synchronization between Garmin Connect and Strava), and the (free)diving activity will not be uploaded in Strava automatically at all (not as a workout and not as a swimming activity). This automatic sync from Garmin to Strava used to work in the past, it stopped in november 2022 however after an update.

So the only way now to get my (free)diving activities into Strava is to upload the garmin ".fit file" manually or create manually a new workout.

Unfortunately, I will end today my paid Strava subscription and use the free account...

Hi Jane,

This is quite sad, as it’s very clear that there are a lot of people who wanted this feature added to the software. I do believe it’s quite a blind move from the company.

This will definitely let Strava lose some existing subscriptions as well as miss out on several more (including mine)… probably not a significant amount for the company, but still…

Very very sad response.

Thanks,
Roberto

I read that even the standard Garmin Fenix watches may get a diving function. Strava can't lag behind, right? Even if in the beginning it is just manually entering a dive (duration, max depth, time).

Very disappointed to see that Strava have no plans to add scuba diving to their list of sports. Given that my Suunto Ocean app tracks my dives, as well as my rides, runs, walks and other activities, I will be cancelling my paid Strava subscription and making the switch to the Suunto app. Frustrating, as I've used Strava for 4 years now.

With the imminent release of Garmin’s fenix 8, there will be much more location data for scuba diving than ever before.  Strava is the perfect platform to ‘own’ dive site locations and names, ideally with water temperature data too.  Some kind of heatmap would be superb.  I hope the increase of data changes the calculation and this now becomes a worthwhile product development endeavor.
