Jumping rope is not just a warmup it is a great sport and activity in itself. There are even official organizations such as the Amateur Athletic Union with long established rules and regulations https://image.aausports.org/handbooks/jump_rope/JumpRope.pdf.

There are exhibitions, teams, leagues, singles competitions, team competitions, national and international competitions; everything that you would expect an official sport to have. It has observer status at the Global Association of International Sports Federation and been recognized as a sport by half the countries needed to become an official Olympic sport. Is Jump Rope a Sport? - Here's What to Know | Elite SRS

I'm pretty sure there is no international association of stair stepers and that is supported in Strava so why not jump rope?

Hello and thank you to everyone who has taken the time to add your votes and comments to this request.

We want to let you know that we do not intend to add more activity/sport types to Strava in the foreseeable future, and this feature suggestion will be moved to a status of not currently planned.

We appreciate and understand this is not the answer you were hoping for. We strive to be as transparent as possible and provide updates to our Community when they become available.

Please remember that we receive a large number of idea submissions, and even some  popular ideas may not make it to the implementation stage. The number of votes an idea gets is one factor among several that’s considered when our product team develops the roadmap.

For more information, review our Guide to Ideas.

Additionally, a status of not currently planned does not mean this feature suggestion goes away. It will remain open to votes and comments, and may be revisited at some point in the future.

Lastly, we sincerely hope you will continue recording and uploading your activities to Strava. Here is a list of the Sport types that we currently support. It’s always an option to set your activity to sport type “workout” and indicate more specifics in the activity name.

Thanks again for your contributions.

Wow, it has taken Strava almost 2 years to come up with this disappointing decision. This is an example of NOT listening to your community. So for me there is NO reason to subscribe to Strava ever!

Lol all those years of doing nothing just to say you're gonna do nothing. Garmin supports it now. Get your act together Strava!!!

I agree.

Please add jump rope as an activity.

I can record it in Garmin as jump rope but it shows as workout in Strava.

So annoying 😡.

I can not remember the last time that Strava had an update with anything that made its users truly happy and appreciative. This is your opportunity Strava, imagine the users you will accumulate who are using alternative apps for this purpose. This is a no brainer. Please add jumping rope, garmin and apple have it and you don’t. Don't ever let the competitors trump you.

p.s my fellow rope jumpers, if you purchase a “smart rope” the rope itself counts your jumps and send this to your apple health. It’s fantastic

Even though jumping rope isn't currently planned, here's a +1 athlete who would really love to see this feature added to Strava! I actually created a profile here just to check if it was on the roadmap. It's such an effective workout, and it would be amazing to track and share the progress with the Strava community!

Ps: I also, can't understand the existance of ping pong activity, and not rope jumping (nothing against ping pong, I personally also like it 🙂
