For athletes that like to hide certain stats (Calories, Speed, Start time or Heart Rate) info from activities, it would be great to be able to choose a default for this and have it automatically apply to every activity.

Currently, you have to do this by editing each and every activity, and I think it's more realistic that users would want to apply this to all activities, verses only hiding certain stats from some activities.

Thumbs up from me. It seems easy to implement, and I think you're right... users who want to hide their HR data (for example) would probably want to hide it on all activities all the time. Personally I keep my data public, because I like seeing other athletes' data, so I don't mind sharing mine to contribute to the learning aspect for all. But it makes sense to have toggle switches to hide specific data on all activities going forward until otherwise enabled (rather than jumping through the hoop of hiding it each time you save a new activity).

You're probably already aware, but it is possible to bulk-edit such data privacy on all past activities:

I haven't used that feature, but I would think it could be used in reverse, to show such data in bulk if it was previously hidden.

Cyclists should be able to block their telemetry data (heart, watts, etc) without also blocking segments. I think this can be done today, but would have got be set on each individual ride manually.

There should be a switch to always block physical stats without blocking segment results. Segments are social media. Heart/watts/etc not so social media.

Having this ability to block physical stats based on activity type would be incredibly useful. I've found that editing a virtual ride with a map attached removes the map from the record and changes the activity to a generic "indoor cycling" activity. Once the map has been stripped, even reimporting the GPX file does not bring the map back. If these settings were applied automatically by default it would help prevent this from happening.

I agree with having the ability to block physical stats without blocking segment results, as well. Users should have more control over what data is shared with other users without penalty.

Why hasn't this been implemented yet? I have a few followers who regularly check my activity before I can hide my HR data. HR data is actually very personal health information. It is weird that this privacy issue has not been resolved yet.

@Mikeautomaton I find it surprising as well. I've just put up another post as I have a similar problem, I do not simply have time to check the box every time when I post an activity, and some slip through the cracks. Any update @Soren , as it seems a very easy and beneficial update to add.

Undboutedly, this simple feature request hasn't been implemented because Strava believes that hiding some of the activity metrics by default will reduce engagement. It's the only thing that makes sense. They are doing what's best for Strava.

I completely agree with you guys on this topic. Nobody has to see my power or my hr (maybe cause it’s shockingly high, maybe cause it’s shockingly low 😛 ) I would even hazard a guess that this feature is already available to pro’s. I can’t see Mathieu van der Poel manually changing all his privacy settings for every ride he uploades. Wouldn’t be to hard to make this accessible to the masses right?

I chip in as a supporter of this request! I just recently found the feature to "edit past activities" and hide my heart rate data but was surprised that the power data was not possible to choose from. I guess Strava is reluctant to give users this option to hide on all stats because they are afraid it would take away a big value for other cyclists to look at others and might drive down engagement etc.

I still don't understand that this is not in STRAVA from the very beginning. Something so easy to implement should seriously be a no-brainer for the product team! It makes even more sense when data privacy is a super heavy topic in recent years.

There is even a service that profits from this stupid drawback of STRAVA that you can use > https://strautomator.com/

Publishing this sensitive data may potentially have a substantial impact on peoples lives. It does not matter if it is scientifically correct or not, but it gives an impression of the status of your health. It may influence your chances of advancing your career, your screening of health or life insurances and probably lots of other things.

If it is not published on the internet, you do not need to think about these things. For me, this is not about competition or comparing. It is about common sense.

Now I am forced to hide all my activities and manually edit them every time.

Please implement this feature.

The fact that it's still not possible is unbelievably stupid. People have been requesting it for YEARS and they just keep on ignoring.

Would like the option to default my settings for all my activities to hide pace. Currently have to manually do it on every upload
