I sometimes visit large sites that are more than 2km away from public roads, so any attempts to using an address to hide the start/end point of a ride hasn't been successful since the ride ends more than 2km from the point of the road. Randomizing the centre point doesn't really help as it only allows a couple of tries, and often moves the circle away from the areas I'm trying to hide.

Ideally I'd like to make a 5km square, and move the map underneath that square until it covers most/all of the site and my end/start points are well hidden.

I am thinking of places like national parks, large factories, power plants, military bases etc. where there are internal roads without addresses that are accepted by the form on the strava page. These places are also larger than the maximum 1600m radius the current privacy zone allows.

Hello @clasher,

Thank you for submitting your feedback and idea! While your notes about the maximum distance that can be hidden using Map Visibility settings being 1,600 meters or 1 mile is correct, I wanted to share some notes about additional privacy settings available to control who is able to see your activity.

When it comes to your Map Visibility settings, there is a third option available which allows you to hide the entire map on your activity. Enabling this option will prevent any other athletes who are able to view your activity from seeing any portion of the activity's map. This Map Visibility setting is available in your account's settings if you would like to hide the maps on all new activity uploads or you can enable the setting on individual activities you have uploaded to your account in the past.

More information can be found at the following link: Edit Map Visibility

In addition to your Map Visibility settings, you also have the ability to control who is able to view your activity using the Activity Privacy Control. The privacy control on an activity can be set to "Everyone", "Followers", or "Only You" to determine who is able to view the activity. While this privacy control does not specifically affect the map on your activity, it may be useful in helping you keep sensitive information private.

More information can be found in the following article: Activity Privacy Controls
