I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I continue to be baffled by virtually identical workouts (some, such as those represented by the two screen caps here) giving wildly divergent calorie readings. Any clues? did Strava radically adjust their algorithm between September of 2021 and August 2023, because I've got 2 1/2 times the calories for an identical rollerski run. What gives?!?
Calories discrepancy

Hello @SkiStra
Thanks for posting about this.
Strava shows calories as they were provided to us by upload partners. If no value is sent, or you record with the Strava mobile app, we use our own calculations. At this time, Strava only performs a calorie calculation on a ride, run, walk, and hike activities. All other activity types will not display calories unless the upload partner includes the data with the activity upload.
You don't mention what device or App you used to record these roller ski activities, but based on the above it sounds like the calorie count is coming from the upload partner, since we don't do our calculations for calories on roller ski activities. Read more about calorie calculation here.
If those calorie counts are coming from whatever third part App or device you're using to record, any questions about the calorie value would need to be directed to them.
Let us know if you have any questions about this or if we can help in any way.
