"polarized" global heatmap

One problem with the global heatmap is that it does not tell, for a popular route, if one direction is much more popular than the opposite direction. E.g. some MTB routes are only rideable downwards, some others are boring downwards but popular upwards.

Would it be possible to colorize each pixel according to the most popular direction? E.g. white when no direction is more popular than the others, red if north is more popular, blue if west is more popular… Or maybe a filter to only show the intensity of circulation going north, etc.
