Hi! I’m using a Redmi Watch 3 and have been syncing my runs to Strava. However, I’m experiencing an issue: sometimes the GPS map appears on Strava, and sometimes it doesn’t — even though all my runs are outdoors on the same route with a clear GPS signal. The runs that don’t show a map still record distance and time correctly. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

Hi @Xxmnd_,

I tried to have a look at the activity but your profile is private, so I’m only guessing.

When you open the activity via the Strava website (not in the app), check whether it doesn't have the indoor tag added for some reason - and if it does, remove it. Sometimes this is causing exactly the same problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience! I've changed my profile privacy settings to public and also removed the "Treadmill" tag from my run, but unfortunately, the map still isn't showing up on my Strava activity.

Thanks for the additional details!

From one of the latest activities (here), it looks like the elevation is zero all the time, which would seem to indicate that the gps data is missing…

Tagging @Jan_Mantau  here - Jan, sorry to drag you into this, I recall you had some background knowledge of the treadmill tag behavior… would you know whether the existing (already recorded) activities are fixable? And what's causing this in the first place? The OP was supposedly recording this as an outdoor run...

Based on the activity @Jana_S linked, I agree it appears there’s no GPS data. Try exporting the original file and see if it has GPS coordinates in it. You can do that on the Strava website (desktop only, not mobile) by going to the activity and clicking the “...” menu on the left side, then selecting “Export Original.” Try loading it in to https://www.sunearthtools.com/tools/gps-view.php or some other site and see if any GPS data shows up. If there’s no GPS data, there isn’t anything you can do to recover it since it doesn’t exist at all. If it shows a map, you could try deleting the activity and re-uploading using the file you just exported (https://www.strava.com/upload/select)
