Presently, rowing with EXR is force to 'virtual rowing', while rowing with ErgData is going under 'rowing' without option to change it to virtual rowing (not selectable). So my rowing, on the same machine, is under to different type of activity. It's a bit annoying. Can I suggest to force ErgData activity to be set to virtual rowing automatically, since it is virtual anyway. Thx.

Hello @Manhouel

Thanks for your post. Virtual activities refer to activities that contain virtual GPS data recorded with a smart trainer. To classify an activity under a virtual sport type, the activity must be originally recorded as a virtual activity using a supported virtual bike trainer, treadmill or rower. Performing this action will ensure that your activity file uploaded to Strava has the correct sport type information included. Athletes are not able to classify activities manually as virtual.

If you are recording indoor rowing activities that do not contain virtual GPS, they will not be categorized as virtual rowing activities, however you can use the indoor tag on the activity edit screen to tag them as indoor.

Thanks for this reply, but you do realize that this technicality lead to the ridiculous situation where doing an activity on one smart trainer, with and without GPS data added by a third party, classify these as two different type of activity without the possibility to group them? So, your solution is to delete these activities from my Strava account and to reload them from the trainer log in order to remove the GPS data to have them classified as only one type, i.e. rowing. Can you see at least the absurdity of it?

If I do a rowing session on an RP3, it’s virtual rowing. But if I do it on a concept2, it is just a rowing session. And I cannot convert it to a virtual rowing session.

the absurdity is that a rowing session will be outside and you would expect that to have GPS data.

if I log a session manually I can choose any of my regular types, including virtual rowing, even if I have no gps data to log.

strangely if I create a club, I cannot track virtual rowing, only actual rowing, but I can’t exclude concept2 erg data from the club even if the club is just rowing.

I want to be able to create a club that is just virtual rowing.

and I want to be able to convert any workout to a virtual rowing session
