This should be an option for paying users at the very least. It seems to be a new update today that everyone’s watch is now listed in the first line of their activity. Comes across as overt advertising and Strava trying to make every dollar they can. There’s also legitimate reasons some people wouldn’t want to advertise this (sponsorships, not using a watch someone gifted you, general privacy etc). With all the other things we can customize it feels inconsistent to not be able to edit this. Hoping for a change. Thanks!

edit: I’m aware we can probably export the file and re-upload without it being tied to a watch but it shouldn’t have to be that complicated.

This has been a discussion even when the tracking device was only visible when opening an activity for more information. Think this has something to do with a demand from Garmin. It's frustrating and feels like a privacy issue.

There's a feature request that you can vote for:

But indeed, with the attribution requirement from Garmin, it might be impossible. 😐

That is a great addition :) Makes garmin happy and allows api-app developers to not use additional requests :) Does it really infringes your privacy? Explain that to me please, I do not see anything wrong with it. Garmin has issues with attribution, so they filed a lawsuit, and before it all settles, i think it’s a make-everyone-happy solution.

It’s more an issue of being sick of everything we upload to Strava being used for profit and ulterior motives. There’s no reason they need to force you to show which device you’re recording an activity on, it’s obviously about Garmin’s demands and/or a form of advertisement. I pay them plenty for the low amount of features they give me, probably time to end the subscription at this point.

Could you post a screenshot of this for clarification? I'm not seeing this myself.

Edit: I see it now

Well, I can understand that, and can only say that is how it works right now, with lawsuits and stuff, it’s their way or no way. From my standpoint (api app developer) this is a good change since I can follow Garmin/Strava rules without costly additional requests. And yes, I do not like advertisement either, but this is the state of the game right now. We’ll wait and see, Strava and Garmin should negotiate somehow. BUt personally, i don’t have problem with displaying device on my activities. And BTW: device was always on the activity page, only not on the ‘summary’ page, but when you entered your activity details, there always was the device name underneath, so this is a late regret imho :) Anyways, for me - it’s a good-compromise-for-all change, we just need to wait and see how this goes in the future. Cheers!

And you would imagine my being sick when Garmin says I need to attribute the FILES from the device that is not using their API, or their Apps in any way because it’s old and unsupported? (Really, I spoke with the Garmin people on official Garmin support line) So, i am pissed off too, but can live with it - as it makes my app development easier ;)
