Comment Limitations - Why?!

Why are there comment limitations, especially as a subscriber to Strava?

There has been a local race on today, so I'm wanting to comment on many Strava friends' posts. However, due to limited comment amounts being allowed, I can't do this. I think that I've only commented on about 20 people's posts!

Why have such extreme limitations to an app, which is all about boosting each other through kudos and comments?! I find this bizarre and highly frustrating.

It is even more frustrating that I cannot scroll back through people's posts as far as I'd like, as it only allows me to go so far back! Why is this also?

Hello @HLD

We hear your frustration - our team is continuing to evaluate and adjust our rate limits. We do not disclose our exact rate limits. However, we have directly relayed your feedback to our Development Team.

Thank you for your patience.

I read that you are continuing to adjust these rate limits, however, I see so many topics about this same complaint,  some dating back up to 2 years ago! Surely you have managed to sort this by now! Other platforms do not seem to have these same limitations in place!

I would like to echo both of these sentiments concerning the comment rate limiting as well as the inability to see notification history beyond the most recent 30 items. Both of these routinely cause me frustration as a subscriber. Although I see the rate limiting on comments has been improved in the past year, I am still occasionally hitting the limits about once every 6 weeks. I have approximately 200 athletes that I follow, and in a given weekend, probably half of those are posting a workout, and I am commenting at least once on about 70% of those, so that's roughly 70 comments and 48 hours, which apparently is enough to hit the weight limit. I would suggest either making the rate limit a larger fixed value or making it proportional to the number of followers or followed athletes that an account is tied to, such that the limits account for the fact that concert is likely going to be proportional to the number of other users with which you are likely to engage.

Regarding the issue with notification history being limited, perhaps notifications that have already been clicked / acknowledged and be cleared from the list, such that the 30 comments in the most recent years are those that have not yet been acknowledged, assuming your interface doesn't allow for the list to go beyond 30 entries.
