Hello, I am a french rider.
First of all thank you for your great work. I love this application. I have been practicing electric mountain biking for some time. However, I notice that electric mountain biking activities are not counted as cycling activities, especially for the difference in altitude. They are classified in other activities. Would it be possible to classify these activities as cycling activities? thank you
E-bikes should not be counted in the same category as regular 100% human powered bikes. The motor puts them in a totally different category. It would not be fair to have the two compete against each other in the same challenges or leaderboards.
I agree with you. This is also the case for the segments. Currently, electric mtb activities are counted in the other categories for the number of kilometers traveled. And the elevation does not even appear.
The activities must be separated, especially for the segments. But why does this not count in my monthly or annual objectives or for the cycling challenges.
The way they keep e-bikes out of the segment leaderboards and challenges is by making it a separate sport type. Because it is a separate sport time, it can’t be counted as a bike ride. Only the bike sport type counts for bike miles and climbing. All of the other types of cycling (gravel, mtb, etc..) are sub-categories within the bike sport type. They are all included in the same leaderboards. They are not their own sport types.
Hello
Thanks for your post. In order to have your E-Mountain Bike rides count towards you monthly or annual goal, you would need to set up the goal to include this activity type. If you’re setting up the goal in the Mobile App, you have a number of options for this. For example you could choose “All Sports”, “Off-Road Sports” or “All E-bike” See screenshot below:
You’re correct that many cycling challenges don’t include E-bike or E-Mountain Bike rides. There are some Challenges that do include E-bike activity types, here’s an example If you scroll to the bottom of any Challenge page, you’ll be able to see what activity types qualify for the Challenge.
Lastly - thank you for letting us know you’re enjoying Strava! I will pass that along to the rest our Team. Thanks for being part of the Strava Community.
Enfin une personne qui a compris ce que je voulais dire. Merci beaucoup pour votre réponse.
