Please, PLEASE, can you get rid of the photos on the heat maps!! I’ve suggested this before, but to no avail. I want to see my activity clusters on my heatmap, not random photos. It’s not a travel blog, it’s a running record. The photos just get in the way of the activity clusters and add no value at all. On the contrary, they are annoying.

Hello @Plotter

On the bottom left of the heatmap, click on the multiple layer icon. A dialog will then be shown, then deselect "community photos".

@Kimberly22  the problem is that every time I want to create a new route and open the map, community photos and point of interest are enabled again. How to disable them permanently?

The map layer preference is saved in your cookies. Recently I’ve seen new cookie permissions pop up on Strava, have you accepted them? Or are you using a tool to block cookies?

I don’t have cookie blocker on the laptop. Third party cookies are disabled by default, but I would expect that such a cookie is stored under strava.com.

Anyway - I just tested, and whenever I chaned the layers configuration on the map, no cookie is updated. Do you know which specific cookie is responsible for map layer preference?

I’m pretty sure it’s to do with “cookie” settings (the actual preference to show/hide community photo’s is saved in LocalStorage).

I was experiencing the same behaviour as you - I’d only accepted “essential” cookies. I went back and changed my cookie settings for the site (on the main feed: cookie policy > manage preferences) and accepted “functional”  cookies. It now saves my preference of not having the community photo’s shown.
