Hi everyone,

Been doing the monthly 50k walk challenges since August but can't find the January one, any ideas how to getvthis created?

Thanks

I am so over Strava screwing around with the walking challenge. It’s my main distance activity (the rest is workouts) and they’ve been wrecking it over the past couple years. It used to be 50 km per month, then in 2024/early 2025 they lowered it to 30 km which wasn’t much of a challenge. I was so happy when they raised it back to 50 km in mid 2025. Now they’ve gone and changed it to 100k steps. I have only walked 2 km so far and I use the app to track (no smart watch with pedometer). Regardless strava is converting my distance to steps even though they have no idea how long my strides are. Based on their conversion, 100k steps is 70 kms. That’s not going to be achievable for me. First it was too low and now too high. I can’t understand why they don’t stick with the middle ground of 50 km. It’s a serious piss off.

Unfortunately, it looks like Strava discontinued the “Walk 50 km” challenge and replaced it with “Walk 100k Steps”. This is unfortunate, as I do not have a device that measures steps, so Strava no longer offers a walking challenge that I can work towards.

rainwashed13, you’ve made some really good points. I hope they bring the 50 km walk challenge back. I thought it was a great monthly challenge. Steps is not a good metric. Stick with 50 km distance.

I wonder what the chances are of Strava creating a February Walk 50 km Challenge? Will there ever be a walk 50 km challenge again? I’ve walked 63 km so far this month, but since I don’t have a device that can measure steps, my total step count for the month is zero.

I've been using an app called map my walk instead, it has walking challenges on and works really well. I enjoyed the walking challenges here on strava but will continue with the other app
