The new update messes up the personal heatmap in a few ways:

1) All of the color options are now much lower contrast than before, making it harder to see the cumulative and specific activities.

2) The color intensity calculation is wacky. Routes that have only been run once will vary in color intensity, even within a single block.

3) The map really lags in updating now. For instance I uploaded an activity more than 8 hours ago, which shows in the feed, but still doesn't in my heatmap. Before this update, it would show up within 5 minutes or so at all scales. I'm worried it will start dropping activities entirely.

All of these create clear degradation on the #1 feature I subscribe for. Please fix.

These issues show up on the Android app & web browser (Chrome).

Hi @dbpalmer4

Thanks for posting about this. Our Team is aware of this issue and looking into it. We’ll post updates here when we know more.

Sorry about this and thanks for your patience.

Hi,

Any updates recently ?

I am having the same issues on Android, plus another very frustrating issue which makes it impossible to view activities when zooming out.

As soon as I do the first zoom out, the area around the initial zone goes all white, and after zooming out again, it goes complety white.

Downloaded the app again but doesn't change.

Hello @dbpalmer4 - we've released a fix that should resolve this issue with transparency in heatmaps, causing weird contrast! Please let us know if you are still having this issue after you update your app to the latest version.

Hello Lola,

Thanks for updating this thread. I have updated the latest version (410,11) and force stopped the app, but the white map issue remains.

I use a Samsung device.

Hello @PeterParis - note that the white issue with the heatmap is a separate bug from what @dbpalmer4 reported and I have announced resolution on. Unfortunately, I still don’t have any updates on that issue but our team is looking into it - you can follow the progress in this thread. Thank you for your patience!

Thank you for the update @Lola - this looks much better.

#3 still seems to hold (takes hours to update at different resolutions) but the most important fixes are in.
