Power data discrepancy between Strava Web and Strava Mobile

Hello Strava Support Team,

I would like to report and better understand a discrepancy in power data within Strava, affecting the mobile app only, while the web version displays the correct values.

I am including:

By reviewing these links, it can be clearly seen that:

  • Garmin Connect shows consistent power values throughout the entire activity

  • Strava Web displays the same correct power data and matches Garmin Connect

  • Strava Mobile, however, shows a strong and unrealistic drop in power during the final intervals

This drop in power appears only in the mobile app, despite all platforms relying on the same uploaded activity file.

Earlier intervals are consistent across all platforms, which makes the incorrect behavior in the final series on Strava Mobile particularly confusing.

I would like to understand:

  • Why the Strava mobile app displays different power values compared to Strava Web

  • Whether the mobile app applies different processing, smoothing, filtering, or zero-power handling than the web version

  • If this could be related to how the mobile app parses or visualizes the original FIT file

Thank you very much for your help. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Best regards,

David

The screenshots look correct for me. The Strava website and Garmin app show the power graph whereas the Strava app shows the average power for each lap. In the last 5 high intensity intervalls you didn’t pedal the whole 30 seconds with full power anymore therefore you got a lower average than in the first ten.

This is a forum for users like you, but anyway, could you post two screenshots where the power differences between the Strava website and the Strava app for those last intervals are visible? Note that screenshots need some time to appear here because they need moderator approval.

Maybe you have compared average power with weighted average power. If that wasn’t the issue, could you post screenshots?
