I would say this is too difficult for Strava because there are no internationally standardised databases for races. This is all very local stuff and additionally different for every sports type.

I think that is the request - to create a database specifically for races (or events). It would be a slight tweak from Clubs that people can join now.

1. User creates a race with location, date, sign-up link/information, etc - (already can be done in “Clubs”).
2. Similar to “Athletes you may know” the race geo-targets people who are local. It also can be searchable just like clubs are now.
3. Other users can “join” the race
   1. Extra credit - Strava allows the race to be posted on the user’s profile page as “upcoming races”
   2. Extra extra credit - Strava reconciles their training program to the race’s date
4. Users can see feed specifically for that race (already can be done in “Clubs”).

Groups already achieve #1 and #4, Strava just needs to figure out 2 & 3.
