Segment effort recorded but excluded from leaderboard (group ride?)

The today leaderboard is for the current day only, you would have to look at it on the day of the activity.

Just to clarify: I did check the “Today” leaderboard on the actual day of the activity (January 31, 2026).

That’s exactly when I noticed the issue.

On that day, other athletes from January 31 were visible in the leaderboard,

while my effort from the same day was not, despite being fully recorded and public.

So the question is not about checking it on a later date,

but about why the effort was excluded from the leaderboard on the day it happened.

Hope this helps clarify the situation.

Other things that can prevent a ride from showing in the daily leaderboard are that the segment is partly in the privacy zone of the ride, that there is something wrong with the timestamps of the ride or that your timezone is not setup correctly.

I can rule those out as well:

- the segment is not affected by any privacy zone (it is fully outside my privacy areas)

- timestamps are correct and consistent with the activity and segment timing

- timezone is correctly set and the activity date/time is accurate

- the effort is visible in “My Results” with correct data

Given that all these conditions are fine, the only remaining explanation seems to be

an automatic exclusion related to group ride detection or drafting.

being applied to daily segment leaderboards?

Group rides aren’t in any way excluded from segment leaderboards, there must be another explanation. Maybe Strava was just too slow to recalculate the leaderboard in time, that happens now and again.

The effort is fully recorded, visible in “My Results”, completed on the same day as other visible efforts, yet it does not appear in the “Today” leaderboard from that day.

If group rides are not excluded, what mechanism could cause this effort
to be silently excluded from the daily leaderboard?
Is there any official documentation or Strava staff explanation?
 

As you have done everything correctly, the “Strava was too slow” explanation is the most likely. If you have a similar problem in the future you could try the “Refresh Activity Achievements” feature, this is website only.

For getting a staff explanation you have to contact the Strava support. I would advice only doing that in case you have a problem with the monthly (website only) or yearly leaderboard and it’s still early in the month or year, else you won’t get a meaningful answer in time.
