My phone storage was filled up, yes, all 256 GB (mostly music). I uploaded two Strava activities and neither of them uploaded GOS data. I read that I could delete some things in order to have the data uploaded, so I freed up 7 GB of space but my map data is still not showing up. Is the data gone or is it recoverable?

Hello,

Thanks for your post and sorry to hear about this issue. It's likely that missing data may not be recoverable. Here are a couple of potential workarounds to get credit for any missed activities:

1. Manual Activity: When GPS data didn't record or isn't available through a friend

You can create a manual activity to account for the lost mileage - although this won't count toward Strava Challenges and won't match to any segments. For more on this, please see our Help Center article for Uploading Manual Activities

2. Activity sharing: If you were with a friend who recorded the activity with accurate GPS

You'll need to ask them to use the Add Friend button on their activity detail page which will allow them to share the activity with you. Once they've sent the invitation you can accept the copy of the activity as your own. If you accept the invitation, your friend's activity will appear on your Strava profile and feed as if it was your own. You will be grouped with the friend who invited you, the activity will count towards Challenges and Clubs you are a part of, and the activity will count towards your personal stats. The activity you are tagged in will not count towards segment leaderboards, running estimated best efforts and won't include heart, power, or cadence data. For more information on how this feature works please see our Help Center article: Inviting a Friend to Your Activity.

If you continue to have storage issues on your phone, you may want to perform an uninstall / reinstall of the Strava App. Since all of your activities are stored on our servers this will not affect your data. Note: Before taking this step, please check that your phone and IOS are currently supported for the Strava App. Please see information at this link

If your phone and/or IOS is not supported, please don't uninstall/delete the App because you won't be able to reinstall it.

Once you have deleted the app, this will clear the cache that is stored on your device. You can then re-download Strava and re-log in. This should clear up any storage that was previous saved on your device.
