I would like to see Strava implement an option to take power(watts) direct from power meters used by cyclist instead of only allowing Strava algorithms to calculate power, from my perspective there are to many unforeseen variables like wind, group riding(drafting) etc, which leads to false data. If given the option to select actual power data from power meters it would give better representation and training info in the overall scope if utilizing Strava training data

If you don’t want the money for your power meter to be wasted you should use a watch, bike computer or another phone app (i.e. the Wahoo app) to record activities instead of the Strava phone app. They all can upload the recorded activities to Strava afterwards and then you can see your real power values in Strava instead of the estimations.

I use a Garmin 1030 bike computer, Strava still uses their own algorithm to calculate power regardless of device used to record power data which does not match the power numbers from the power meter recorded from bike computer. I do not use the Strava phone app

In this case you should already see the power values from your Garmin, even if Strava changes the numbers slightly due to other auto pause calculations and always including 0 W when coasting. Group ridings and drafts only leads to different data in Strava when you’re coasting and you have your Garmin set not to include 0 values.

Back to my original comment, I would like to see the option to select either Strava algorithms for power, or your chosen power data based on actual data from power meters.

Strava does use the actual power meter data. What you maybe want as option is that Strava uses the same algorithm as Garmin. For that you could vote on a similar idea like

or you could create a new idea in https://communityhub.strava.com/ideas
