Sometimes, on longer rides, with many segments, there is a list of hidden efforts. Sometimes when I have gotten top ten overall they will appear in the hidden efforts but also not in the top results. Sometimes I don’t bother checking this list. But I always want to know when I get a new top ten overall. Is this a random result? Or is there something that can be done to change this?

If it’s always the same segments you could unhide them, then the next time you tackle them you will be informed about the top 10 rank. But as long as they are hidden (mostly because many users had hidden them manually and therefore that setting got global for all users or they are redundant to other segments) there is no sure way to be informed. Sometimes those hidden top 10s appear in the app in the activity map with the trophys but it’s not reliable.

+1As far as I know none of them are hidden. And if they are, how would I know and how would I unhide them?
+26Maybe we aren’t on the same page regarding the list of hidden efforts from your original post. The hidden segments I’m speaking of get visible with the “Show x hidden efforts” button when looking up an activity on the web browser. There is an “Unhide” button for each of them.
+1You’re talking about the hidden one’s near the bottom of the page. Those the same one’s I’m talking about. I’m just wondering why top ten overall efforts would be hidden down there sometimes, rather than be with the other segment efforts higher up on the page. Because I only really care about either the starred one’s, top three PR’s, KOM’s and top ten overall’s. Those should all be up with the other one’s. And they should never be with the hidden one’s. Which is why I was asking if they just randomly ended up down there or if there is some way that STRAVA could adjust their algorithm so that they don’t end up with the other hidden one’s.
+1The issue was never really addressed appropriately. So apparently I’m the only one who cares about it. It would be nice to know if you got a top ten overall without having to check the hidden segments at the bottom of the page. Especially if they are in an earlier part of the ride. It doesn’t make any sense that they would be in the hidden segments at the bottom of the page.
+26You could create an idea in the ideas section to request that hidden segments will be temporarily unhidden for an activity if there was a top ten placement. Not that I think this will lead to anything but it’s the official procedure.
