I can’t figure out how to change the swim yardage in Strava that has been auto uploaded from Garmin Connect.  My Garmin watch does not records kick sets and sometimes I just push the wrong buttons or hit the lane lines which can push buttons, so I want to be able to correct what Garmin has uploaded to my Strava account.

Hello @Pwestervelt

Thanks for posting about this.  Am I understanding correctly that this is an indoor swim activity that doesn't contain GPS data?  If that's the case, there's not an option to correct or change the data that is synced from your Garmin device.

One option would be to create the activity manually on your account with the right data:

Please follow these steps to upload a manual activity:

Using our website:

1. Log into your Strava account at www.strava.com

2. Hover over the orange plus sign at the top right corner of the page

3. Click on "Add manual entry"

4. Select the activity "Sport Type" and fill out the fields listed

5. Click "Create" to complete your upload

Using the Android app:

1. Go to the Feed screen

2. Click the "+" button in the bottom-right

Using the iPhone app:

1. Go to the Feed screen

2. Click the "+" icon in the top-left

Please let us know if that's helpful.

This solution is ok but you then lose all your data like heart rate etc. would be good if Strava could give the option to correct distance in the pool as it often is incorrect

This is one solution but it loses speed etc, HR SWOL etc - it would be really useful if when you altered your Garmin record it also altered the strata one

This really isn’t a solution at all. I should be able to simply fix my interval distances so I don’t lose any of my other data.

There are ways to record things like kick sets in your Garmin as you are swimming.  I don’t know the specifics, but it is a setting where you manually enter the distance on your watch when you complete each “set” so that it will show up in the file when you are done.  I swim a lot, but haven’t bothered with this since it just seems like extra steps I don’t have time to do (when you only have 10-15 seconds rest between intervals/sets), but it can be done.  If you do it, the kick sets will show up in your garmin file and will be included when transferred to Strava.

This is from a quick Google search so may get you started:

Garmin Watch How to Record Kick Sets

To record kick sets on a Garmin watch, follow these steps:

  1. Enter Drill Mode: Start your workout in drill mode to manually record kick sets.

  2. Complete the Drill: Finish the drill interval and press the lap button to add the distance and time to your total.

  3. Switch to Swim Mode: After completing the drill, switch to swim mode to continue your workout.

  4. Repeat: Continue switching between drill and swim modes as needed to record each kick set.
