Why does my apple watch go to home screen while using Strava? Seems to occur while indoors on the treadmill. I start my 5k run then my apple watch returns to home screen and my activity has stopped. I have to open the Strava app again for it to resume. It’s annoying that I’ve lost part of the activity. Auto pause is Off. Can’t rule-out my watch hasn’t glanced the side rails. Any other ideas? Seems to be OK on outdoor runs.

Watch is Apple 7.

Hi @jonitopps

What you have described sounds like a bug that has been fixed recently. Can you please double check that you have the latest update installed?

Here’s the related thread:

All seems to be up to date. iPhone 15 Pro. Version 412.0.0 // watchOS 11.5

Thank you for confirming… I’ve asked the moderators to have a look, it might need the attention of the engineering team.

Have you tried doing the run using the native Apple Watch app and then syncing the result from that back into Strava?

I use that method for swimming, Pilates, yoga etc and it’s very reliable.

Its easy to set the sync process and have it as either manual or automatic.

Thank you. Yes I may try that. Kind of hoping Strava get their finger out as reading the other comments it’s been a long term nuisance for many users. With so many people turning away from American technology, I don’t want to also be deterred.

The issue IS NOT resolved at all, the same problem exists, despite the fact the Strava said they fixed it 1 month or so ago on another post.

This is what I’ve found, the heartrate will be maintained on the watch IF you’re on a setting involving distance, for me a bike ride or walk. If I choose Workout, or indoor ride it continually stops recording my heartrate and often just closes the app (on watch). Sometimes it NEVER regains the heartrate and I need to close the session and reopen another.

Developers, this shouldn’t be difficult. Do your proper testing, ask the right questions of users who are telling you what’s wrong. I’m seeing very little from Strava in response on this!! Not good enough.

I’ve been a paid up member for 5yrs now, this problem has been carrying on now for at least 12 months. What am I paying for exactly? Can I get a refund or you going to start listening?

@Mart_Fx Did you try the workaround BryanC had suggested?

@Mart_Fx

You comments above suggest that you think this hub space is directly linked into the development team. It isn’t.  This hub is a community space where other Strava Users try to help you.  We are not the Strava Support team and not the development team.
We try to offer solutions from our experience; thus the workaround I described to you above.   Do please try it.
