Wrong times on segments

Some of my segment times are incorrect.  When I look at “comparisons” against earlier times for a given segment, there is a point on the segment that Strava randomly adds 20 minutes or so to my current time, as if I stopped and waited for 20 minutes, even though I did not stop at that point.   For example, I rode in Dupont yesterday and on Wilke Trail the replay of the route on the computer shows my position roughly equal to my earlier time through most of the segment, then at a few hundred yards from the end, my current ride time jumps up 20 minutes, leaving me 20 minutes slower than the PR ride, even though it was almost identical.  I have had this happen probably 6 times.

That is a new one on me.  Are you able to post a link to the activity where it happened?  Maybe there is something we could see in it that might help indicate what is going on.

Does your recorded track look correctly or are there straight lines, especially at the end of said segment? It could be that Strava added pauses due to missing GPS signals.

I think I managed to find the activity (@Dana Beach I hope it's ok that I post the link as your profile is public, but if you're not comfortable with that let me know and I'll remove the link),

There seems to be a ~20 min gap from approximately 45th minute. But the map seems to look fine, no obvious glitches. @Jan_Mantau @anchskier  you guys are more familiar with rides recordings so you might see something more..?

It is interesting that this happened right at the point where you turned around.  Are you sure you didn’t stop for a break at the turnaround point?  Outside of that, I can’t see anything that would be causing a 20 minute time gap.  The GPS track is a little jumpy throughout the ride, so the signal may have been poor for some reason, but I don’t see why that would cause the time to be off at that point.

I would say Dana really made a long break and that happened at the end of one segment and the start of the reverse segment. Maybe she miscalculated where the segments start/endpoints are.
