Strava currently supports Tennis and Squash, but one of the fastest-growing racket sports in the world is missing: Padel (paddle tennis).
Right now, padel players must log their sessions as Tennis or Workout, which:
- distorts activity statistics
- makes training history inaccurate
- prevents padel-specific tracking
- breaks discovery of other padel players
Padel is not a niche sport anymore:
- it is exploding across Spain, Europe, and Latin America
- millions of players use wearables and Strava to track their activity
- professional leagues, clubs, and tournaments are growing rapidly
Spain alone has over 6 million padel players and more than 20,000 padel courts (source: International Padel Federation – https://www.padelfip.com).
What should be added
Add Padel as an official sport type with:
- time
- calories
- heart rate
- effort metrics
- indoor / outdoor mode
This does not require GPS or mapping — it only requires a correct activity classification, just like Tennis or Squash.
Why this matters for Strava
- More accurate user data
- Strong appeal to the Spanish, European, and LATAM markets
- Enables padel clubs, leagues, and communities inside Strava
- Prevents users from mislabeling workouts
Strava already serves endurance and racket sports.
Padel is now big enough that it deserves its own category.
Please add Padel as a first-class activity type.
