Under “Report Profile” there is no option to report an obvious bot account, so I just end up blocking them and not reporting them. I get 2 or 3 bots following me per day and I’m not even popular. I’m getting fed up and it seems like Strava doesn’t even want to take the most basic steps towards addressing the problem.

I’m sure there are one or two categories to report that, even if “bot” isn’t mentioned explicitely.

Hi @mike11

While Strava is committed to reducing spam, like any open social network, it's a challenging problem to solve. Your reports play a key role in helping us quickly identify, evaluate, and remove truly spammy content. If you come across any content that appears to be spam—such as unsolicited promotions, fake accounts, repetitive comments, or suspicious messages—we encourage you to report it right away. Here's how you can report it:

Reporting a Profile

To report an athlete account that appears to be spam, please follow the steps below.

Reporting a profile from the Strava website:

    1. Go to the profile page of the account you'd like to report.
    2. Click the gear icon below their name and avatar.
    3. Click Report.
    4. Select Impersonation, Scam, or Spam
    5. Choose Spam as the reason for reporting.

Reporting a profile from the Strava mobile app:

    1. Go to the profile page of the account you'd like to report.
    2. Click the three-dot icon.
    3. Click Report.
    4. Select Impersonation, Scam, or Spam
    5. Choose Spam as the reason for reporting.

Reporting Comments

When you come across a comment that looks like spam, you can report it by following the steps below.

Reporting a comment from the Strava website:

    1. Go to the comments section of the activity or post in question.
    2. Hover your mouse over the comment you wish to report and select Report.
    3. Select Impersonation, Scam, or Spam
    4. Choose Spam as the reason for reporting.

Reporting a comment from the Strava mobile app:

    1. Go to the comments section of the activity or post in question.
    2. Swipe left on the relevant comment you wish to report and tap Report.
    3. Select Impersonation, Scam, or Spam
    4. Choose Spam as the reason for reporting.

Reporting Messages

To report messages within the messaging app, please follow these steps:

  1. Open the message thread containing the message you want to report.
  2. Press and hold the specific message.
  3. Select the “Flag Message” option.

A pop-up will appear asking: “Would you like to send a copy of this message to a moderator for review?” If you wish to have the message reviewed, click YES. Please keep in mind that the flagged message will not be erased from your thread upon reporting it, but will be added to our moderation queue for further review.

The Strava Trust & Safety team will review the direct message you reported to determine whether it violates our policies. When necessary, we may also review the broader conversation to ensure we fully understand the context and intent before making a decision.

Reporting a Post

If you come across a post that seems like spam, here’s how to report it on web and mobile:

  • Open the post you wish to report.
  • Select the three-dot icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  • Select Report Post.
  • Select Impersonation, Scam, or Spam
  • Choose Spam as the reason for reporting.

For any other content you believe violates our policies, we encourage you to report it by following the steps outlined in our Reporting Content on Strava article, where you will find detailed guidance. If you need additional support, feel free to reach out to our support team for assistance by following the steps here.

Your reports are invaluable in helping us quickly identify and address policy violations. By working together, we can keep Strava a positive and trusted space for all athletes.

This is not a good answer. It’s not even complete. If I select an account, click Report, then Impersonation, Scam, or Spam, then Spam, I then get another form. This one asks “Where did you come across this issue?” and I’m asked to select “Profile picture”, “In comments”, etc. Seriously, just add an option for “Report suspected bot” or something like that. Something that’s quick and easy.
