Hi,  I have the free version of the app.  I prefer to see my average (AVG) speed when I walk/run/faint.  Until today, as shown above,  the app would display my "AVG SPEED" (just above 3.6) while I walked.  I try to maintain this speed.  Today, as shown above, the app displays my live SPEED as I walked (above 3.6..no more AVG SPEED). Does anyone know how I can get the AVG SPEED to be constantly displayed instead of my live SPEED?  Thank you

Hello @flower11234

Thanks for posting about this.  I suspect your account may have received a free Subscription preview, since the live speed on the App is actually a Subscription feature.

What you are seeing is a completely free (no strings attached ) preview of our subscription features. Your payment information hasn't been collected and there is no risk of being charged unless you decide to subscribe. As a token of our appreciation, we occasionally offer a complimentary 30-day subscription with no payment information required.

The subscription preview is set to expire automatically after 30 days.   We welcome you to check out the list of all Subscription features.

Let us know if you have further questions.

So make sure to never subscribe if you prefer to display your average speed? What a weird design choice.

After taking off 1.5 years from exercising, I am back to walking. Like the original poster said, I miss the average speed display while walking so I know what pace I should be keeping up. I am assuming that I have been giving a free 30 day subscription preview. This happened to me once before. This is not a good business model. I need the average speed, I am even willing to pay for it, but apparently if I do not pay for it, in 30 days I will get what I want. If I do subscribe to your service, then I will never have the average speed display while I'm walking. I will wait 30 days.

Frankly, it’s mystifying that Strava doesn't allow the user to configure which particular stats show in the app display on your phone while you’re doing an activity. There’s another well-known fitness app (whose name I won’t mention here) that I have used that has always allowed that, so I would configure it to show both current and average speed, as well as distance traveled.

These days, if I want to know my average speed mid-activity when using Strava, I am reduced to asking Siri to do the math.

Strava itself recommends the usage of other apps for recording, like the Wahoo app. That way more live stats are available and additional sensors to heart rate can be used.

Thank you, when I had this previously, I did use another app for one month. I'm trying to remember the name of it. If you can tell me that would be great, if not I'll go to google. Thank you
