On may 18th, I was editing one of my shoes from the iOS Strava app. After a run, I went to « my shoes » section, saw the proper list as usual :

  • mizuno wave Daichi 7
  • salomon ultra glide 3
  • mizuno wave ultima 16 « pour tapis »
  • Mizuno wave rider 28 bleu vert

those last ones are my usual pair of shoes for the running. So I clicked on it to « modify » , check the « make default » box, and validated.

once back to the list, this pair disappeared ! I checked the « retired shoes » section, it’s not there. I have an old pair of « mizuno wave rider 28 », but it’s an old one. The new one had « bleu vert » at the end to make the distinction.

I went to check all the runs I’ supposed to have done with those shoes, and the shoes reference has left, there’s a sad «-« character instead.

of course, it’s annoying. I have tried to ask for help from the support, but I’ve been told that « they are limited to investigate these sorts of issues », which, I won’t lie, puzzled me for the rest of the week…

so ? Should I say goodbye to this data and create a new one again. Or is there any développer somewhere willing to investigate the database, if that’s possible; or I try and retrieve the data ?

thank you very much for any help,

best regards,

Loïc b.

Hi @Loic.b,

when you say “validated”, do you remember where you clicked? Because the form design is a bit unfortunate - which is why I submitted this suggestion quite some time ago:

Geez, that’s incredible !  Thank you for your message, I went back to the same screen, and I am not 100% sure about it but it’s very likely I clicked the red button on the bottom of the screen instead  of the “save” button at the upper right area.

I don’t remember doing it, but it seems logical that’s what happened.

What a shitty design ! I think I can allow myself to such criticism, designing mobile app is my job for twenty years.

I upvoted your update request. And I can now spend the evening to recreate the data,,, aaaarrrgh…

cheers

l.

Yeah… sorry to hear that. The same had *almost* happened to me, the buttons should really be designed better. I hope you’ll be able to re-add the shoes to all the runs...
