When I check my efforts on a given segment, Strava always shows "Running Power" (watts) by default, instead of heart rate — and there’s no way to change this or set a personal preference.

I’d like to request that users be allowed to choose which metric is displayed by default in the segment effort table.

For short or consistent segments, GAP (grade-adjusted pace) and power are strongly correlated with actual pace. In these cases, showing watts doesn't add much value if pace is already shown.

However, heart rate does reflect meaningful differences in internal effort between similar paces, and is a crucial metric for runners who want to understand their performance and progression.

With modern watches now sending power data automatically, users are being forced to view data they didn't opt into — and in many cases, it's not useful or relevant.

Thank you for considering this improvement. It would make the analysis experience much better for many of us.

Hi @Francesc,

that’s a good point and indeed it would make sense to have the option to see HR rather than power (or simply both...), instead of power always taking precedence whenever even a single effort included power data.
