You can already do that. In the “create route” function in the app you can use the zoom icon for searching for an address and in the browser route planner it’s similar. The route creator is for subscribers only though, maybe that’s why you missed that.
nope I'm a subscriber. Have you used this, for long routes? its not user friendly. In fact it is VERY frustrating. Now, I would just find other peoples routes that have done the same route, and use it but there is no way to easily find routes over these distances.
To map routes on the web is a shocking experience need to zoom in, find the location select it as a starting location then click manually along, say the 100 mile route, trying to follow say the heat map. When doing this, it sends you back on yourself, and in circles, when you edit it, it changes other parts of the route… I just tested it to make sure i am not being annoying. I click the popular route, and it sends me in a circle, totally avoiding the popular cycling route….I tried to use this for a 100k ride a few weeks ago, and when you are 50k in, and something you added earlier has changed, it is very frustrating. On the app, in fairness, it actually does work…. but now i need to save the route, and open it on the web…If i want to edit, i assume i have to do it on the app, because the web makes all kind of random changes. A phone is not ideal to be editing routes. So why is the functionality different?…. Its not a decent user experience. All this could be done for me. For example, I just tried bikemap, and it works perfectly, as described above.! like the app but online, select point a and point b, the terrain type etc… and you are set.
The Strava route creator has many bugs and shortcomings, but this is more something for the features chat instead of the ideas section.
Thanks for your thoughts. We’ll be converting this to a discussion and moving it over to the Features Chat section. We invite you to continue the conversation and discussion there. Thanks!
