I ran a route I run often, just an out and back up a hill. I created a new 1km segment for the bottom of the hill from my activity. It’s fairly straight and simple. My activity is only a partial match of the segment, with no other info given.

The segment starts a little ways up the trail from the road where I start, and each lap I ran well past the end of the segment.

How can an activity not match the segment when the segment was created FROM that activity gps data?

Thanks for any insight! I searched but haven’t come across this issue yet. There were many other matches and a full leader board but not the activity it was made from.

Hi @ArmyOfZombies,

how long has it been since you've created the segment? I see that the activity is only from last Saturday, it may take a while / couple of days for Strava to crunch through past activities to match the segment.

On a side note, that's some serious elevation gain in a HM… respect! 👍

edit to add: tagging @Jan_Mantau & @anchskier, you guys have plenty of experience with this if I recall correctly… what do you think? Also, clickable links:

Hi Jana_S, thanks for replying!

I’m pretty sure I made the segment later the same day as the activity. I’m guessing it’s at least 5 days old. It matched some of my older activities on this hill.

The “trail” is a woods road, wide enough for heavy equipment to get up it easily. So there is variation in the GPS track of each loop up and down, but we’re talking 10 feet across, not that bad.

Appreciate your kudos ;)  It’s hard to get elevation training around here, this is one of the better hills for extended climbing.

Cheers!
