Hi Strava Support,

I recently discovered the gear tracking feature and added my bike to my account. I set the gear's start date to a point in the past (when I actually started using it), but I noticed that Strava only begins counting kilometers from the date I added the gear — not from the backdated start date I selected.

At the time I started using the bike, I wasn’t aware of the gear feature. It would be very helpful if Strava could retroactively assign past activities to gear based on the chosen start date.

Is there a way to apply gear to past activities automatically based on that date, or is manual editing the only option?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Boštjan

Hi @bx90_2

the fact that you have the gear doesn't mean it was used. It needs to be assigned to specific activities to have the mileage counted.

People often have more gear and use different equipment for different activities. So I would have multiple pairs of running shoes and assign those that I’ve actually used - and a pair bought ~2 years ago might have lower mileage than another purchased only this year.

Bottom line is - yes you’ll need to edit the past activities and add the gear.

thank you very much ... yes that is it … now I have to asign this bike to all past activities, but now I get another question: is there any way to choose maybe all Ride acivities and add a gear (bike) to all at once?

thank you in advance

Not directly in Strava. Maybe some 3rd party tool..? 🤔@ActivityFix I hope it's ok to tag you - can your app do that?

@bx90_2  edit to add: this is the app I mean, https://activityfix.com but I don't use it myself so I’m not sure whether it can do this kind of mass-update of past activities (hence tagging its author to help here)

yes, thank you

thanks again, I have solved it … I have done it with StatsHunters 👍

All good to tag me, and yes it can do that. But it looks like the problem has been solved already 🙂
