This has always been the case that only very few people show up on the heatmap with their ebike activities. Whether it’s ebike or e-mountainbike activity classification. The map is practically empty with no traces for ebike activites. I can see my personal ebike traces from My Heatmap option but none of them show up on the Global Heatmap for the ebike options. By now there are hundreds of emountainbikers on Strava in this area but I only see the traces of a handful of riders on the Global Heatmap. It’s practically empty when switching over to ebike activites.
Maybe the other ebikers aren’t on Strava or have their activities visible only to them. In my area the global ebike heatmap shows many activities.
You have created an idea but you have only described a problem. Was it the wrong category in the community hub or do you have a suggestion for others to vote on?
Why would I talk about people being on the Heatmap who aren’t using Strava? It should be obvious I’m talking about Strava users. The map is almost empty when selecting ebike activites.
There was no problem category to select. Only question, conversation and idea.
Sorry, I wasn’t aware you know all the other ebikers in your vicinity and how they record their activities and set their privacy options. The best section for describing such problems is usually the Strava features chat but you are right, it’s not really obvious.
What are you talking about? You clearly use Strava being on here so I just don’t understand how it could be a mystery to you that you can see other Strava users on Strava… You can see how many people are on segments and when they have ridden… Did you not understand you see other people’s activity on Strava? How long have you used Strava and you don’t understand this? How is this not obvious to you? Wow. Just incredible.
Can you post a link to an ebike segment in your area, preferredly one with the most efforts? Starting from that it can be determined if the tresholds for showing something on the ebike heatmap needs adjusting.
It’s not a thereshold issue. It’s that 99+% of rides don’t appear on the heatmap. It’s likely an issue with the activity type not being registered at all.
https://www.strava.com/segments/32505030 Thousands of activities in the area but not a single trace on the heatmap.
I can see what you mean, this year 22 riders had efforts on the segment and how much efforts that were in the last year could be 100 or more. This is a general problem or you could even say bug with the Strava heatmaps, they are starting to show something only if a very significant number of activities are recorded and therefore show nothing outside of metropolises. I had the same complaint for the mostly empty night heatmap raised with the support team last year but they denied that there is a problem at all and stated everything it as intended.
Yeah I figured it has to be something like that as this has been an issue as long as I’ve used the ebike features on Strava. If someone wanted to fix this it would’ve been fixed in a day. But the dev team is probably road bike focused so they don’t care about issues that they don’t personally deal with. Just unprofessional.
It’s really a problem for normal mtb ride classifications as well. Not enough activity to show up enough on the heatmap so you end up using all sports which gets it’s tracks from hike activities. It was some time back that it was changed it used to work just fine.I understand why you’d want to adjust the thereshold for city areas but they’ve completely destroyed the heatmap for terrain use.
But then in some places you have randomly some traces appear from far lower usage of only a few rides for ebikes. That’s why I figured it has to not be registering activities into the heatmap at all because you still see some riders on the heatmap with only a few activities creating the traces.
I checked it for ride classification as well and it’s the same problem. In 2021 it worked fine and showed traces in riding areas and terrain but it seems the whole system is now just for high use road sections and everything else is completely empty. But hike activities still show fine and you can see traces in terrain areas. So the developers responsible for this have completely screwed all the biking activities within the last few years.
