I’m trying to find out if it is possible to correct a route you have made in the computer but failed to follow exactly due for example temorary roadworks. Or you inadvertently turned into the wrong street and had to back up. How can you remove those ‘tails’ from your route after the route was saved in strava?
Hi, just to clarify: are you talking about what Strava calls “routes”, or about the recording of one specific activity?
if it's the first option: you can access your saved routes here, https://www.strava.com/athlete/routes - just click the three dots (ooo) at the route in question and click Edit. Note, you want to do this rather on a computer, the route editor isn't great in the mobile browser.
If we're talking about editing the gps track of a particular activity, then no, Strava doesn't have that option.
Ciao Jana. Yes, I wanted to rectify my recorded track. Due several reasons I deviated from my planned route. The planned route had a section I could not plot as STRAVA did not saw a path there so I had to rely on my recorded route to create a route other people could follow. If I read you correct I have no choice but to walk my route again, this time without errors or unintended extra ‘loops’.
I forgot to add one option - it's possible to crop an activity, but that's only for the beginning or the end of an activity, not for middle sections. (Open the activity in the manual app > tap the three dots in the top right corner > Crop Activity.)
Anyway, for the purpose you're mentioning - you can actually do what you want in two steps:
- In the app, open the activity > three dots top right > Save Route
- Then go to the Strava website at https://www.strava.com/athlete/routes > in the route you saved in step 1, again tap three dots > Edit
This will not change the activity you did, but you'll have a route that you can share with others. (Make sure that you save it as Public, not Private.)
If the route planner “corrects” the parts of the route that you mentioned was problematic (Strava didn't see a path), then yeah, you'll likely need to walk it again 🙈😀
It worked. Grazie mile!
