How to display power data when cycling?

Hi,

I'm pretty new to Strava and I've been using it to record my cycling rides. I've seen online that it was possible to have the app estimate the power, so I just updated my weight and bicycle information. I also edited my recorded activities to assign the newly created bike to each of them. I'm still not seeing any power data.

- Would the power information only visible for my upcoming activities or is there any way to get numbers about the ones I completed already?

- When I hit the Record button, I'm not seeing any power value either. Is there any way to see this information while cycling?

Thank you.

I believe Strava’s estimated power numbers are only calculated after the activity is saved. It's not possible to see a live value without a power meter on your bike.

Even if you have a power meter, the Strava app doesn't support them so you would need to use a 3rd party app or dedicated sports device (head unit, fitness watch, etc) to see live power numbers.

Regarding older activities, I'm not sure on this but I believe Strava will recalculate the power when activity data changes. You could try to edit a previous activity (just edit them save without making any changes) -- once it's re-saved, since your weight has changed it should calculate estimated power. You may need to toggle something which impacts power like changing the bike.

I actually did that. I created the bike then added it to my previous activities but that didn’t change a thing. I even just switched the activity type from “bike ride” “mountain bike ride” but that didn’t help either.

If your activities are visible to everyone, can you post a URL for an example where estimated power is missing?

Okay I was about to share this but I saw that the power metric is now appearing. It took a bit of time but now I’m seeing these on all the previous records after changing the activity type. Thanks guys!
